This white-washed village is so quaint and beautiful. There is more to see than I would have imagined. Many shops, restaurants, gardens and much to see. I particularly enjoyed the bull ring. Having been told the bulls are not killed here, I was surprised at all the plaques noting the deaths of the bullfighters. What I enjoyed was, unlike Seville's bullring, I was allowed to walk anywhere including the ring itself and walk back to where the bulls would be held. It, like the village, is just as quaint, if one can describe a bull ring in this way. Mijas was a 15 minute taxi ride from Fuengirola and worth the trip. I wouldn't mind staying here. The views are spectacular.

We took the bus from Fuengirola - 1.50 euros each way and buses run every 30 mins. Nice drive up through the hills and then put down in the centre of the town. Fantastic views and the tourist office will supply a map with walks marked to take in the best attractions.I loved the donkeys parked in the shade under the car park. Some lovely independent shops here and many places to eat or have lunch.

coming from Gibraltor to Malaga a collegue sugggested a few hours stop over in Mijas.
Just delightful to walk thru the plaza and thru the hilly alleyways and mazes. Nice shops, many eating places, charming , pretty streets and of course a bit too touristy.
Well worthwhile to explore

I have visited many Plaza de Toros in Spain and attended lots of corridas in most cities. All that I can say is this one is cute. Looking at plaques listing previous corridas I did not find one that highlighted a matador of renown. This plaza is a good training ground for novillas on their way to become recognised as a proper matador. But it is well worth a visit.

A bus ride to Mijas is fun, if a little hair-raising as you travel up into the mountains around Benalmadena but it's worth it because Mijas is a little diamond in the rough. White-washed buildings, donkeys and horse-drawn carriages, pretty little cobbled streets - many tourists! It's well worth a visit, however, because it is so pretty. A little stroll around, a drink and some tapas and you will be happy to take the bus home but glad nonetheless that you paid Mijas a visit.
