“Dream Wedding in South of Spain”
Reviewed June 12, 2011

We have just returned from our wedding at the Tamisa Golf Hotel and thanks to them it was truly our dream wedding, which we will talk about for years to come.

We first visited the Tamisa in September, not long after we got engaged and instantly fell in love with the setting and knew immediately this was the perfect venue to host our special day. We met with Joanne the wedding coordinator, and we must say that from the outset Joanne did everything in her power and more to make sure we had the best day of our lives. As we were trying to organise the wedding from Northern Ireland, we were concerned that this would be quite difficult, but to be honest it was quite the opposite and that was largely down to the work that Joanne was doing behind the scenes.

The Wedding Day tself could not have been more perfect. The Ceremony was held in the gardens - guests had the pleasue of listening to Arran Harding sing during the Service and at the Evening Party who truly blew our expectations out of the water. The Drinks and Canapes by the Pool were amazing and the wedding meal itself was outstanding from start to finish and the staff’s attention to detail did not go unnoticed. Each course was really well presented, credit must go to the chefs at the Tamisa.

The grounds and views of the Mijas mountain range provided the perfect panoramic backdrop for our wedding photographs. My Brother who was our Wedding photographer could not get over the picturesque nature of the surrounding area.

To summarise, we would give the Hotel Tamisa 10/10 across the board as a Top Wedding Venue in the South of Spain. Special Thanks again to Joanne and all of the Tamisa staff for giving us our dream wedding. We look forward to paying a visit to the Tamisa in the not too distant future!

Congratulations to the Hotel Tamisa for providing a well lit make-up mirror, a washing line to pull out over the bath for wet clothes, and hot milk with good coffee at breakfast.

This hotel is a must for not onlygolf lovers but also for the views and swimming pools both indoor and outdoor and the staff are very friendlyand helpful. If possible hire a car to get about to see all the attractions like MIJAS, MARBELLA and PORTA BANUS. They are all only a short drive away. Overall a wonderful Hotel. Stayed here for 2 nights in April, paying under £70.00 a night for a room with breakfast. So based on the price we paid, I would stay again, but I wouldn't pay much more.

The road to the Hotel from Fuengirola, goes through a semi industrial area, which is looking a bit tired. The last mile before the hotel improves, with a creek, and numerous golf courses. Hotel on the outside is fine, and our room had good views over the golf course. Plenty of parking.

Hotel entrance and greeting from reception was good. Service and advice from reception and the bar was very good, and friendly, and evening meal was of a good standard.

Bar area and lounge inside is just a bit dated, and needs a refresh (sofa's sagged a bit). Bed rooms just a little dated, they were clean, large, and bedding was good condition. Hard beds.

Indoor swimming pool was cold, and the ladies changing rooms would have benefited from a clean (lots of other peoples hair on the floor). Swimming pool was cold, and jacuzzi had mildew in the filters around the edge. There was also a very rusty grate near the pool, and rust on the bottom of doors.

Breakfast was bland, a mediocre selection of continental provisions, and some soggy bacon and mushy egg.

If you avoid the indoor pool, and don't mind the hotel having slightly faded decor it's fine. Service from staff was very good and helpful, which is the bit which would make me go back.

As for the Costa Del Sol, too over developed, too many high rise tower blocks, go inland to see the real Spain.

This is now our 3rd visit to The Tamisa. We arrived to pouring rain to visit The Tamisa to sort out our wedding arrangements which will happen in June of this year. We had another fab stay here. The lovely Joanne had arranged for us to meet our musicians, florist and Rev who is marrying us & all with a smile. We also tasted our wedding banquet which consisted of canapes, chicken caesar salad, homemade duck pate, spinach crepes with mornay sauce (vegetarian option), passionfruit sorbet, Seabass, FIllet Steak with mushroom and brandy sauce served with roasties and veg. Needless to say, we left extremely full & very satisfied with the food. We cannot WAIT to have our wedding meal now & I am sure our guests will be happy too.
Nothing is too much trouble for the guys at The Tamisa, who always make us feel 100% welcome.
I do, however agree with the previous reviewer on the decor of the rooms. It is not modern luxury like some of the more pretentious hotels you may find in Puerto Banus or Marbella, but the rooms are clean where the views are out of this world & the service and food quality at this lovely hotel completely outshine any outdated decor. I would def not let this put me off. However, if you do like very modern hotels this may not be what you are looking for. Generally, I prefer modern art deco style decor too but this quaint little Spanish hotel has sooo much more to offer that to me, it doesn't matter.
The staff, the food, the drinks & the general atmosphere of this hotel are fab. If you are thinking of having your wedding here, DO NOT HESITATE! It is fantastic. Email me if you need any info.
Roll on our big day in June. A big thank you to all for making our visit run so smoothly even if mother nature wasnt on our side!

Hotel overlooking the golf course with pleasant views, but felt in need of an update all round. Carpet tiles in room and halls made the rooms look grubby. Decor felt cica 1990. Compared with the other reviews I felt as if I had walked into the wrong hotel. Food very disappointing, had booked a half board deal, the dinner being a set choice of 3, but with a fixed menu for 7 days. I could only eat 1 of the mains resulting in a repeat of the meal for any subsequent nights. Breakfast was very poor, the weakest of any hotel I have stayed in in this category. Hotel facilities not up to expectations, sauna and gym felt like cupboards off a corridor and indoor pool and jacuzzi barely warm so not tempted to use. The hotel is remote from anything else, a car is a must have. Charge for Wifi seems excessive

Once we found the hotel, (quite tricky from Malaga airport), we enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious with B&O TV with satellite and Uk channels. The service was very good throughout and the staff all spoke good English.
The rooms overlook the Mijas Golf Club and we were not disturbed by traffic noise.
There are two swimming pools, one indoor with Jacuzzi and one outdoor for warmer times.
We went half board; the downside was the fixed menu that only changes once a week. Next ime, we'll got B&B and either eat out of A La Carte.
