Just returned from an eleven day stay, what a find this hotel is maybe we should keep it quiet. The staff were excellent very friendly and always willing to help. The rooms were spotless the beds were comfy maybe the pillows could be better.
The food was excellent it may not be to everyone's taste as it was mainly Spanish cuisine cute the variety on offer was excellent
As reported by others this is not the place for a wild time no evening entertainment in early season. We found the other guests here were like minded and were happy to have a quiet relaxing atmosphere,it was nice to sit and chat of an evening after dinner without loud booming music.
Another revelation at this hotel was none of the guests found it necessary to go out in the early hours to grab sun loungers, everyone waited until they were going to use them.
As the hotel is out of the mainstream we had a hire car but the people we spoke to without cars said that the local bus service was excellent for getting out and about
A great holiday thank you Hacienda we will return

Room Tip: Pool views and high rooms are best

just arrived back home after 1 week AI and it was lovely! the food was plentiful and so was the wine, beer and G & T's. All of the staff were cheerful and wanted to be of help. Do not come to this hotel if you want a lively holiday as you will be disappointed as no entertainment in the day or the evening apart from annoying back ground music which went from hymns, Christmas carols and the odd bit of classical music. There was a lot of overnight stayers which was enjoyable chatting to them on where they had come from and where they were going the next day.
The views are outstanding!
Bus stop outside the hotel to go and up and down the hill - do not try and walk anywhere as its very dangerous to walk as no paths.
If you want a nice relaxing holiday with no rush, bustle and no boom booming this is defo the place to come - we will be returning!

Excellent service, excellent evening buffet, excellent breakfast, spotlessly clean throughout. A lovely hotel. The beds are very hard, which is ok. But... the pillows are cylinders of a firm foam, about 40cm in diameter, and very uncomfortable. Would have been 5 stars otherwise.

We have just returned from three nights at The Hacienda and can't praise it enough. We use Trip Advisor, as most do, and read between the lines. It was accused of being aimed at the older traveller. It is, if not having rave music playing until 3 am and total tranquility, lovely staff and quality accommodation is your priority. It is set in the hills above Fuengerola and Mijas, a classically Spanish hill town ( take the bus for 1.55E) from the hotels entrance and bring your camera because the views are to die for. Ok it has tourist shops( think Loe, Polperro) selling all the normal "tat" but it also offers classic white washed houses, donkeys and more. If you want to distill Spain into one visit, Go There. The food at the hotel has had mixed reviews. Totally accurate, if you want Sunday roast or fish and chips and burgers 24, 7 you won't be happy. If you enjoy the fresh taste of Spain, plentiful salad, fish, from sword fish to callimary, meat, from rabbit to ox tail ( try it, it melts in your mouth).......in three days I put on 8bls, partly from the food but also from the excellent quality wines and spirits . We chatted to other guest who return year after year, but I'm one for trying something different, taking pot luck, but their argument was, "why take the risk when you have found a place like this". I hope the management follow Trip Advisor because we had a major problems with our transfers to the airport and thanks to them it ceased to be a problem. Thanks to all the staff, we will be back. Dave and Annabel.

This was my first visit to the Hacienda Puerta del Sol and I was a solo traveller. The building is beautiful, the rooms are average but spotless and the staff are both friendly and professional. I thoroughly enjoyed the food although people looking for British food will not find chicken nuggets and chips here. (Although why go to Andalucía for British food??) The hotel is in a lovely setting although there is a road right next to it. However, this is quite handy as the bus stops right outside and one way takes you to Fuengirola in ten minutes and Mijas Pueblo ten minutes in the opposite direction. The hotel's large garden terrace is perfect for an evening drink or three. There is a lovely adult pool and a smaller, shallower pool for children. All in all, if you're looking for a place to unwind, enjoy the sun and food at a sensible price-this is the place to come.

Room was large, basic but spotless! Buffet dinner and breakfast was really good. Staff very friendly and the views from the pool area towards the sea were good. Very relax feel to the hotel with nice garden area to sit in.

Sadly we only had one night here as part of tour. The position was great, although a bus ride away from Mijas and Fuengirola it has the benefit of great views, pleasant grounds in which to laze. The quality of the Buffet dinner was very good. (I speak as a vegetarian) The staff friendly and efficient. The rooms were large, simple, but with all the necessities. The beds were comfortable and the environment was quiet. The bars were cool and spacious with outdoor areas when suitable. So in conclusion this is a god bet if your planning to go this area, and it won't break the bank.
