Description: Aroma Café & Secret Garden is a truly unique restaurant on the Costa del Sol. Firstly the restaurant is located in an old house dating to 1872 with many nooks and crannies to discover. Within its walls a whole world opens, starting with arguably Mijas´ most beautiful Andaluz Patio. Follow the Patio to its end and let a whitewashed passage guide you to our gem on the crown, the Secret Garden. Here you will find Mijas as it was a century ago, an enchanted forest of olive, orange, fig and loquat trees. Stroll to the end of this sprawling garden and you will discover an ancient ´water mine´ dating back to the Moorish times. In our garden you will enjoy Argentinean BBQ prepared right before your eyes into the early mornings on warm summer nights. Our celebrity Chef from the Canary Islands meanwhile prepares sumptuous dishes which will tempt you to come back time and again until all that is offered has been tasted! Now just come discover for yourself, our friendly team awaits you!!!

Visited 3 times in a week. The owners were very friendly finding us table on 2 occasions when they were spaced out. The best feature of the restaurant is obviously the nice and quiet garden and the barbecue which is done in front of you. The mixed Argentinian grill is A LOT - enough for 3- some of it is very tasty, but we didn't like all of it. A bit expensive but the nice atmosphere compensates the price. Fully booked even on weekdays and that is for a reason. Make sure you book a table before you go.

After our great holiday in Mijas our last night was to be special,we was told about the secret garden we was looking forward to it so much, but was so disappointed with the whole experience
.To start with we ordered steak when it was brought to our table the waiter said 2 pork,we said no we ordered steak he took it back then brought it back and was told from another waiter it was steak, any way the veg was cold but steak was fine.We then decided not to have coffee or dessert ase just wanted to leave,we ask a waiter for the bill then another one,any way after about half a hour we Finley got the bill it was exspencive for wot you got but most of all the service was bad and we would not return,on our next visit to Mijas next year. we was going to say something to manager but didn't want to make a scene in front of all other customers .

Very nice food in a great charming garden. Absolute recommended is the sirloin steak! Definetly no tourist trap.

Visted twice during our stay for evening dinner. The secret garden is a beautiful, tranquil and just idyllic setting to be in whilst enjoying yourself. The food was excellent, well cooked, good quality, nicely presented with an overall price tag you would expect for this type of location and quality of food. There was one downside for us though and that was the service. When you first arrive the service is excellent. You are shown to your table, offered the menus, drinks etc...It's after this stage that service standards seem to slip, especially if you are seated at the rear of the garden on the gravel terrcae. On our first visit i ordered a sauce to go with my meal, the meal arrived but no suace. I eventually got to speak to the waiter again and he went off. My sauce arrived some 10 minutes later. I had eaten most of my meal. He said the kitchen always forget. If they always forget isn't that an ongoing problem which needs addressing? On the same night my wife ordered a further drink, which just never arrived so some 15 minutes later we enquired and yes this too had been forgotten. At the end of the meal it took them 20 minutes to even offer us a sweet menu and this was only after the chap who seemed to be the head waiter noticed we were just sat there with an empty table. Undeterred we ventured for a second evening hoping the service on the first was just a one off. It wasn't. The service on the second night was equally avergae once they had taken the initial order and this was despite the boss walking round the garden. We were sat at the rear again on the gravel terrace and the waiters just didn't venture up to this area much at all unless they were there for a specific reason. Every time you wanted something you had to wave and speak loudly to get them to come over. The food was again excellent and presented well apart from the fact that my wifes meal didn't turn up until 10 minutes after mine...Pretty poor service for a restaurant. This night we again didn't even get offered a sweet menu or 'do you want another drink?' after our main course so we just got the bill and headed off. It would appear that once you have given your initial order, depending on where you are sat you just seem to fade into the backgroud and off the radar of the waiters. Despite this the location is superb, the food excellent and Aroma is definitely worthy of a visit when in Mijas. Maybe we were just unlucky with the service? One tip! You need to book in advance if you wish to be seated in the secret garden.
