Description: Aroma Café & Secret Garden is a truly unique restaurant on the Costa del Sol. Firstly the restaurant is located in an old house dating to 1872 with many nooks and crannies to discover. Within its walls a whole world opens, starting with arguably Mijas´ most beautiful Andaluz Patio. Follow the Patio to its end and let a whitewashed passage guide you to our gem on the crown, the Secret Garden. Here you will find Mijas as it was a century ago, an enchanted forest of olive, orange, fig and loquat trees. Stroll to the end of this sprawling garden and you will discover an ancient ´water mine´ dating back to the Moorish times. In our garden you will enjoy Argentinean BBQ prepared right before your eyes into the early mornings on warm summer nights. Our celebrity Chef from the Canary Islands meanwhile prepares sumptuous dishes which will tempt you to come back time and again until all that is offered has been tasted! Now just come discover for yourself, our friendly team awaits you!!!

“Believe the hype!!!”
Reviewed August 3, 2013 via mobile

Came here as saw all the amazing reviews online and was blown away as soon as we led through a small covered court yard to an enchanting little walled garden at the back of the restaurant....atmosphere was electric and after a waiter swiftly took our drinks order we started to look through the menu's.....I could feel my mouth water when seeing the chef cooking at a gargantuan Argentinian grill....we had starters of which mine the bruschetta was to die for...main course was an imported Argentinian steak and it was so tender, juicy and melt in the mouth...we are planning a second visit while here and will definitely make this a pit stop when here again, top marks all round.

“An enchanting surprise!”
Reviewed August 1, 2013

An invite to this restaurant from friends gave us an enchanting surprise. Through the lively narrow roads of Mijas, past the many trinket shops and cafe's that line the quaint, cobbled streets, up the many flights of steps to arrive at the Aroma Cafe & Secret Garden where customers were sitting at tables outside of the restaurant, 'come on' called our friends come inside. We were warmly welcomed by a young lady at the reception desk, "your table is ready" she said, "please go through". In through the bar area, past more tables lining the courtyard, a few more steps and 'wow' a walled garden! Bar area on the left hand side, chef working at the barbeque to the right and diners seated under shrubs and trees, so enchanting, and the aroma from the cooking was divine. We were shown to our table promptly and politely. Food is very Spanish or authentic, I say this because of the wide range of meats cooked Spanish style such as 'secreto de cerdo' pork cheeks, a very tasty 'cut' of pork and 'costillas de cerdo' pork ribs and Argentinian steaks, all served with Spanish style potatoes, roasted vegetables (red, yellow and green peppers cooked in olive oil), delicious! I don't think this restaurant would appeal to vegetarians although I didn't check the menu for this, you would need to check this yourself. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit the the Aroma Cafe & Secret Garden, it was well priced with main plates priced between 10€ and 25€ (from what I saw), good friendly service and a must, for anyone wanting good food, ambiance or perhaps a romantic dinner.

“Amazing melt in your mouth steak”
Reviewed July 25, 2013 via mobile

Was eating at another resturant and saw loads of people entering this resturant which also had a flat screen tv of a garden. The next night we decided to try and what a find. Sitting in a secret garden away from the front, you have a huge BBQ and we ordered the steak tenderloin which when arrive just melted in your mouth, just been back tonight and the meal was just as good as two days ago. It's a must if you are visiting this area.

“Try the food never mind the looks”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Hesitating at the entrance, you wonder what the food will be like. Following the constant flow of people through the doors, winding our way through the corridors, we land up in the Secret garden, where the barbecue was in full swing. There is another menu, but we choose the barbecue . Having the Spanish tenderloin, (fillet steak to us Brits). Cooked as requested. Melted in the mouth, left you wanting more!!!!

“A must visit”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

This is one of the best restaurants i have been to. From the front it is a quaint little restaurant but once you venture through the back into the "secret garden" it is another world, its a beautiful enclosed garden area.
There is a wide choice of food from bbq to steaks to salads and pizzas or if your just a bit peckish the there is a great choice of tapas. This is a must to visit this restaurant in the beautiful village of Mijas. Recommend to book in the summer as it gets quite busy.
