Description: Opened in 1984 by Raffaele Morelli and his brother Vittorio, the Valparaiso Restaurant in Mijas, Malaga, on the Costa de Sol, has created a reputation for excellent food, memorable evenings and great entertainment. Beautifully presented international dishes, served in a magical setting with sea and mountain views from a flower covered terrace, has been the key to building a faithful clientele. With a complete entertainment programme, including dinner and dancing, live music, flamenco dancing and opera, the Valparaiso has something for everyone. The restaurant is also popular with visiting celebrities and local residents alike. Celebrities such as David Beckham, Bruce Forsyth and Sean Connery and many more have paid testimony to the restaurant.

Had an enjoyable evening, the staff and management couldn't have been more attentive. There did seem to be a few "brooding presences" but they didn't really impinge on the experience. The food, although good did seem to take second place, and better meals are to be had elsewhere, at a lesser price.
What you pay for is the package-which is good!

This is a restaurant that makes you feel special the owners really work the room coming and talking to each table to make you feel the most important peron there. It is no wonder they have loads of photographs of various celebs who visit. On the night we went Max Clifford was in. We were celebrating my birthday but others were there having there wedding party and it was such a great atmosphere. we sat outside on the terrace and the views over Fuengarola and the sea were spectacular. I would go there agian whether it was to celebrate or just to have a really great time in great surroundings.

It was lovely, really special but way way too hot. Hot weather with linen tablecloths, tables close together, candles and lots of twinkly lights meant we didn't enjoy the food as much. Really over priced too for the food- €350 for 4 adults (one of whom was driving) and 5 small kids. Worth a visit for the experience, but only once I'd say.

We visited Valparaiso a couple of years ago and had a fantastic time so were keen to return when we found ourselves in Spain again.

Nestled in the hill below Mijas, Valparaiso enjoys some splendid views from some parts of it's largely outdoor restaurant.

The service is fantastic, the owner makes a point of greeting guests or coming to your table. All the staff are incredibly friendly and very helpful.

The restaurant has a reputation for entertainment, from a brat pack ensemble to traditional flamenco dancing. They really only have one sitting of an evening, partly because of the entertainment but it is really pleasurable to not to be rushed.

So it's all good so far and so was our experience. Every time we have been, the restaurant has been busy, but that has always been throughout the summer holidays. The clientele are largely ex-pat or holidaying British. If that is what you like then you will love it here. If you want quintessential Spanish then this will not be for you.

The food is Italian and the meals are reasonably priced. Because the tendency is for the larger proportion of guests to arrive so that the main part of dinner can be finished before the entertainment starts, the waiting staff can be a little rushed and consequently, whilst they try hard and are very helpful, they are visibly frantic and not at all relaxed.

The quality of the food was good and the baked ravioli in a tomato and cheese sauce was fantastic. My main course, a veal dish, was very salty and my sons steak was a bit chewy. The rest were good. Vegetables were overcooked, bordering soggy but not inedible.

All in all we love the ambiance and the entertainment, the food varied from excellent to a little disappointing and the clientele will either be what you seek or seek to avoid.

Not received our starter after 1 hour and 30 minutes in the place. Did not get seated at our table until 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Booked our table for 9pm , not received any starter by 10.30pm so walked out.

Our evening was ruined !!!!!!!!!!!
