Hi Folks
Just done Promotional Week(99£) at Club La Costa and giving 100% marks. Detailed review is as follows:
1. Malaga Airport to Resort transfer: Only 4.25€/Pax
Most convenient and cheapest way for transfer is to take a train from Malaga Airport(just across the road on arrival) to Fuengorila- Journey is approx 25mins and costs 2.80€/Pax. Fuengorila is last station on Costa Del Sol coast and train terminates here. Frequency is every 20mins starting at 6hrs in morning till 23.20hrs in night. Once you are at fuengirola you have two option to reach Resort- either take a cab from outside Railway station to resort with approx cost 13€ or if you want a cheaper option(not recommended at night) is to take a bus no 220 from bus stand(2 Mins walk from railway station) towards Marabella. Bus departs every 30mins till 23hrs and one need to get down at Petrol station and than 10mins walk to reception(not recommended for first timer with luggage as there is a uphill climb). Bus charges is 1.55€/pax. So 4.25€/pax is the cost and 1hr time through public transport else taxi charges are around 40€ & takes 30mins.
2. Now let's talk about resort: Full marks here
This is a huge time share resort and one can use a train(recommended) for transfer within the resort especially of you have seniors or Kids with you. Guests with Promotional holiday have to stay in Marina Del Sol part of resort. Rooms are duplex with living room(Sofa cum bed for 2 adults) and Kitchen on Ground floor and both the bedrooms &washroom on First floor. In all 6 adults can sleep properly(with only1 washroom off course). All these rooms have sea view and a running patio(no privacy) but sufficient for 2 Sun loungers, 4 chairs and a table. Rooms are clean with housekeeping done in mid week(so for a week stay you will get your room done with linen changes once which is pretty OK). Kitchen is fully furnished with washing machine and both the master bedroom and living room has an AC as well(though we have not used as weather was pretty OK). We were in Room No 303 for 4 days and first 3 days we were in 501 at Marina Del Ray part of resort- get to see 2 types of accommodations and I must say from self catering perspective they were spot on. Reception is 24hrs & very helpful. There are 2 heated pool for people on Promo holidays- one near Marina Del Ray(awesome view of sea and less crowded)& the other one is next to Zarchay's restaurant with Jacuzzi. No view and crowded but more happening- take your pick.
3. Places to see
- Mijas: Lovely small town up the hill(original fishing village) is must see with cobbled streets and picking up Sovenior. Go in the evening and stay till sunset for a awesome view of the coast. One way taxi is 17€ from resort or use public transport- Resort to Fuengorila(same bus 220) and than Bus L4 to Mijas( 3.10€/pax)
- Fuengoriloa: Half day shopping and half day Biopark. Every Tuesdays there is a local market(10mins from fuengirola bus stand), make a point to visit this(between 9am-2pm) for picking up good quality local stuff.
- Marabella: Definite yes, an upmarket beach destination(use same M220 bus from Opp. Petrol station- 3,75€ one way and take a 25mins)
- Gibraltar: Yes if you want to use cable car for top of Rock from novelty point of view that you have covered one more country. Pl book a your trip from fuengirola bus stand(14€) Vs 23€ from Club La Costa.
Now some uselful Tip:
1. Grocery store is on the way to Beach and decently priced. 1Ltr chilled San Miguel beer costs 1.35€ Vs 1.10€ as Super market in Fuengorila(so for 25C all the hassles been saved).Save is the case with most of grocery, pat 20C more on every item and keep away from the hassle off carrying stuff from town and you well get almost everything you need as shop is well stocked.
2. Use Happy Hours for drinks:Zarchay's has happy hour every Tuesday to Sunday between 17.30hrs- 18.30hrs(1hr) & Sunset(other restaurant) has from Mondays to Saturdays between 19.30hrs-20.30hrs.
3. Sovenior shop(next to reception) rent DVDs for 2.50€ and beach towel at only 1.50€(with 10€ deposit) for a week- so travel light.
4. Promotional presentation will take 4hrs and ti be honest it was not a push at all. In the end you can walk out without feeling guilty. Our holiday Consultant Robert Dixon was a thorough Gentlemen and didn't make us uncomfortable during this time.
5. Honestly Beach down the tunnel is for Dogs as locals bring their Dogs along with here all the times. Much better beach is La Cala(next stop up motorway towards Marabella). No issues with the beach if you are not bothered by canines.
Lastly: If you want to come back a weeks holiday for 6 adults will cost you only 325£.
Have a wonderful holidays

As a CLC member (since 2003) we enjoy our visits to this lovely vacation club. The apartments are 5 star quality, the swimming pool area's are exceptional nice and clean, the views are fantastic and the staff is very friendly. (especially Stefan)
Since 2003 we stayed in different areas at clc world in Mijas, the best so far being the San Diego and California suites, but all the other ones were great too.
Last year we stayed in a "town house" at Marina del Sol, with our own garden and a balcony with sea view. Great!
This year we are staying at Sierra Marina, the 1st week of may, and really looking forward to that!
All the apartments are clean and very well equipped with new furniture and appliances. We would really recommend this vacation club! ## Family from the Netherlands with teenage/adult kids

We have just returned from this resort where we spent a week, like many others on a promotional visit. We were required to attend a presentation as a condition of our holiday. As a trade off it was a great value holiday. The deal on offer was of no interest to us at all having had our fingers burned with Timeshare we were very wary and sceptical. However there was no hard sell and afterwards we weren't bothered.

Our one bedroom apartment was clean, well equipped with quality fitting, fixtures and soft furnishings and we had a lovely view from our balcony. The pool area nearest our apartment was clean and quiet and we had no difficulty getting a sun bed at any time. The gardens are beautiful and well kept.

We ate out on the resort and found the meals to be OK and reasonably priced.

We paid for trips to Mijas and Ronda, both of which are worth a visit and were good value. Beware of the Mijas trip as it is sponsored by NHP and you are taken for a sales presentation.

In short, I couldn't fault this resort - would we go again, probably not. The resort is huge and it's a decent walk or a taxi ride if you want to eat off site. We felt that this resort although nice was just 'not us'

Like so many others we came on a promotional price for the week. The apartment on sierra marina is the basic room but more than met our needs, with a small kitchen diner area , 2 bedrooms one a double and 2 singles, tiny bathroom very cramp no more than 1 person at a time. El tajo is good value for your meals and is located near the reception on arrival. WiFi in the rooms is free but can be slow at times. The 5 to 6 hours it took to have a free breakfast (which was great) and shown round the 3 different types of timeshare apartments went quickly. The sit down sales bit could have been shortened to just what they offer around the world and how much it costs for it. I was surprised how little it could cost for 19 years of holidays, as long as you pay it off quickly as the interest could kill you. The only thing I didn't like was the sales manager saying the offer he presented was only for today and not tomorrow which was a lie, you could have slept on it and made your decision to buy without losing any of the offers he gave you.

Room Tip: buy a fractional timeshare to get better views and quality rooms!

Lovely clean complex with exceptional pools. All of the staff are friendly and I recommend the cakes from SAMs deli and a meal at Restaurant El Tajo (see other review).

For:
Short transfer from the airport
Very friendly welcome
Clearly sign posted estate
Very Clean apartment
Exceptional Pools

Against:
Marina del Sol is very close to the busy A7 road so there can be a lot of road noise
Lock on Bathroom door was not working
