Dining options: Late Night, Reservations
Description: El Potro in Mijas Costa in the province of Malaga offers international cuisine with unmistakeable British and Andalusian influences. On Sundays diners can opt for the Sunday roast (roast chicken, turkey, beef or lamb – typical of the UK) with a wide variety of accompaniments. There is also a long menu to choose from, a set menu during the week and a children’s menu. The restaurant is open all day and has a terrace and a play room for kids. On Saturdays there are live shows.

Our favourite carvery. There are 4 different meats to choose from, or have a selection of them all. The gammon is my favourite. You then help yourself to a lovely variety of delicious veg, there's peas, carrots, cabbage, new potatoes, potato lyonnaise, roast potatoes, cauli cheese, plus crackling, stuffing and the tastiest and largest Yorkshires ever, plus delicious gravy. It's always very tasty and fresh whenever we go and we just love it!

“WHAT A SHAME”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

Have been going to El Potro for many years for the sunday lunch carvery, but what a shame on
going last sunday the restaurant is now under new management and it shows!! The service was poor and although the waiter assured us the chef had not changed the food was lacking the usual
quality. Our pil pil starter consisted of FOUR prawns and not much flavour and the fish and chips from the menu was a much smaller portion than usual also the fish was only half cooked, the carvery was only average but on the plus side the puddings were still good. Great pity if this long time favourite of many ex pats does not improve.

“An English surprise”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

When we first went to El Porto, we weren't expecting much, average Spanish food. How wrong were we? El Porto is English owned and supplies English food with a slight Spanish twist.
The staff are very friendly and the food can't be faulted for the price, exceptional value for money.
On the downside, we had a table for 19 and the service was slow but when there was only 2 of us (we went 3 times) the service was speedy, so what more can you expect from a small family run business?
If you want traditional Spanish food avoid El Porto but if you to be reminded of English food, make a trip to El Porto.
Also we were told that the current owners have only been running El Porto for a month previous to this review so you might want to ignore any older reviews and well done to El Porto, you're doing nothing wrong.
