My partner and I have just returned from spending a week at the Hotel Best Mojacar this is our 3rd stay at this hotel and apart from the excellent food now find the hotel very dated. We stayed here nearly 10 years ago and the decor and soft furnishings are still the same bathroom & shower needs modernising the television was very old with one English (BBC world news) channel, desperately needs satellite to bring up to 21st century.
The swimming pool is fine but the sunbathing area is desperately short of parasols ( none really) there are 10 old tattered raffia shades for the whole of the hotel guests usage and in that heat is not conducive to health & safety.

Whilst we were there during the Spanish holiday the majority of guests were Spanish but there was still a large number of English guests all the entertainment was in Spanish even for the children which is very unfair in our opinion.

The reception staff were very obliging, courteous and friendly.

Dear Brian,

Thank you for your feedback it is greatly appreciated. I would also like to thank you for the faith that you have shown in the Best Mojacar and for returning as often as you have, it is always a great compliment to have returning guests.

I would also like to let you know that we are refurbishing the hotel little by little, for example this year we have changed the flooring in the majority of our romos as well as the bar area and aim to complete this along with some other changes over the winter.

Thank you again and I look forward to seeing you next year.

Yours sincerly,

Just recently returned from the Best Hotel Mojacar, stayed there from the 5th-12th Sept with my Partner, we read a few reviews and a lot were positive so we were quite excited. But now after we have returned it was far from the best hotel, it was very poor.

Our flight was delayed a hour from Gatwick, and upon getting to the hotel we were looking forward to going our room and relaxing, just to be told it wasn't ready, we had to wait another hour and a half! Our room was on the 2nd floor with a sea view, but also a view into the main area of the hotel, the pool and outdoor stage which equaled later on a lot of noise.

During our welcome meeting with our Rep we were told that it was a 40 minute walk to the resort center we tried the walk and after 40 minutes were only 1/2 way there, so since we were on half board we upgraded to all inclusive, due to distances to get lunch and so forth. Even though the description said snack bar, well the 'snack bar' is Hamburgers, hotdogs and cold pizza that is cooked at lunch time and microwaved in the bar another reason why we payed to go all inclusive! so you get lunch

The staff were rude to us especially in the bar with only one member of the bar staff been welcoming and polite, the vast majority of the staff speak little to no English this was highlighted when we were trying to book some time in the Spa with a member of reception needing to come downstairs to book the Spa for us. Entering the Spa the next day the staff member spoke no English and we had no instruction on what to use or how. The bar staff over looked you if you were English apart from the one mentioned earlier.

The restaurant was open at very Spanish times for the Spanish guest's, and you had to be in early to beat the rush, but even if you entered just as the doors were open this was no promise of hot food, it was warm to cold to cater for the Spanish taste's, the only place to get reasonably hot food was the show cooking but even this would go cold quickly, so find a seat near by. Several times during the holiday bad stomachs were the norm.

The entertainment was all in Spanish, and during the week I only heard 3 announcements in English on what activities were happening, and nothing more, even if you wanted to join all the instruction was in Spanish, and done through the microphones over the P.A system, and was shouted so was very noisy. With our room been on the 2nd flood and right in front of the stage it was like having a speaker in your room. The entertainers would shout over the P.A system and we could here it on the beach over the road! The night time entertainment was again all in Spanish and would constantly be the same songs over and over. You could not have a early night as it went onto 11:30 sometimes more and was so loud that you would not be able to sleep.

In short I wish I had not booked this hotel, it's main market is Spanish visitors and anyone else is looked at as a outsider and will be open to judgmental looks. The only time we had to find some peace and relaxation was to escape to the beach, we couldn't book any trips out as our rep was never present in resort and when she was, she was busy walking around dealing with people going home not who were still there.

The noise and loudness of the entertainers and rudeness of the staff, distance from resort center as well as this Hotel's main focus been Spanish guest's I recommend that if you are a English visitor stay well away, the easiest way for me to describe this Hotel is Butlins in the Mid 90's for Spanish people.

Not very impressed

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your time spends on the review of our hotel.

The Rooms have to be cleaned before the new guests can enter in them and that is the reason why there is a time difference between the departure and entry times, you will find that this is a standard procedure that is practised all over the world including the UK.

As abouth our staff, the majority of our guests have them in high valoration and this is one of the areas which always recieves the highest results in our customer service questionairs.

The instrucciones for the spa are on the wall notice board and each stage is explained step by step, in English and spanish.

During check-in we inform our guests of the quietest times in the dining room along with the availibility of the microwave for heating food however i can ensure you that the hot food is hot, to have it any other way for us would be unacceptable because of our proceedures during the lunch and diner times we do severall test which are according to the spanish health proceedures .

As for you recomendation that British people should not stay here, i would like to reiterate that all guest from all countries are welcome and will be treaten equally in the Best Mojacar hotel.

we stayed at best hotel 5th September 2013 for a week , having read reviews we were a little unsure, a lot said staff were not very polite, we found them very nice and even though they didn't speak much English they did their best to understand what you were saying or asking for and got there in the end. yes its mostly Spanish holiday makers but hey you are in spain. the entertainment team worked really hard and especially with the children, and it was so nice because the Spanish adults really got into the spirit of things and really joined in with the singing and dancing, was a lovely holiday atmosphere. our room was on 4th floor and as we opened the balcony door the view was wonderful of the sea beach and pool, but we were directly above the stage where all the entertainment took place so was quiet loud but it did finish at 11.30pm so if you like quiet evenings its not for you. food was very good lots of choice and fresh cooked meat and fish if you wanted it, it wasn't very hot but I just put mine in the microwave that's provided.rooms are a little tierd and need updating but saying that they were clean and comfortable .

Room Tip: all rooms with poolside view would be noisey with the entertainment.

Dear Guest,

I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at the hotel.
It is true that the majority of our guest are spanish but i would have hoped that this would have enriched your stay, bringing you closer to the “Real Spain”. As for the entertainment two nights per week we have live music, yes it is in spanish but as i said you are in Spain and we would have thought that our guest would enjoy this. On two other evenings we have musical shows in wich the speaking parts are in spanish however most of the songs are in english.
There are various items in our buffet which are repeated every evening due to their popularity, EG “Salads and hamburgers” however the other half changes due to the evenings theme EG on the mexican night we offer nachos, fajitas…. In the gala evenig prawns, muscels, roast beef, suckling pork and so on. Maybe this is not to your liking and i apologise but we do our best to welcome everyone to the Best Mojacar in spain.

Me and my partner have just arrived home from a 7 night half bored holiday at Best Mojacar and although being slightly nervous about what to expect due to other reviews, had a fantastic time. When we arrived, the staff at Reception were extremely polite and spoke very good English and we were given the key to our room within just 5 minutes of arriving. The room itself was extremely clean (decor was slightly outdated) and the bathroom was also very nice (shower was fantastic!) We had a sea facing room which provided us with a terrific view of both the pool and the beach- therefore was a ideal area to relax and read.
We were half bored and therefore entitled to both breakfast and an evening meal- both of which were pretty average. This is probably my only criticism about the hotel- the food was often slightly too cold and lacked variety for me. However, the staff at meal times were very efficient bar one young lady who came across as very rude when she got annoyed at us for not speaking Spanish.
The bar staff were fantastic and always kept a mental note of who was next at the bar, so people were served fairly. Other reviews suggested that the Spanish customers were served first but I didn't notice this once. The drinks are very good value for money.
Beware that the resort is very 'Spanish'- and although this creates authenticity for a truly spanish holiday, there was quite a language barrier which could be a problem for some people. The entertainment was completely Spanish- but always very lively and exciting!
The pool was very clean and the grounds were pretty and clean also.
Both me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed this holiday- it was very relaxing!

Room Tip: Sea facing room!!!

We stayed at the Best Mojacar all inclusive for 2 weeks from 1st August. We absolutely loved the hotel, the staff, the surroundings, the pool and the food. Having booked in March and read various reviews, we went on holiday with a certain amount of trepidation. We were most pleasantly suprised. The hotel is lovely, the staff are helpful, kind and obliging. The food was fantastic - people moaned in earlier reviews that the food wasn't warm, there wasn't much variety etc. etc. What a load of rubbish. The food was hot, tasty, and there was plenty of choice, the spanish dishes were wonderful, the salads and soups of good quality, the meat and in particular the fish dishes were fabulous and we're very picky eaters. The puddings, drinks and ice-creams were also lovely. We had read that the bar staff were grumpy and served spanish guests first - absolutely not true. The bar at times was buzzing, and the staff, under difficult conditions were polite, quick and very friendly. The swimming pool was wonderful and never overly crowded! Good zumba classes and water polo too. (Be warned - the sea is quite rough and pebbly - not child friendly - but that's nature for you!!!). We tended to eat early so as to avoid the rush - and that worked well for our family. The restaurant also had themed evenings which were great fun. The hotel really made an effort to make guests welcome. The only criticism - and this really is the only one - is that the entertainment, for some reason, was so, so loud that at times it was uncomfortable - however we mentioned this to the manager who said that the hotel was looking into this. All in all a great family holiday, good food, wine, and in a lovely environment. Thank you Best Hotel Mojacar - we will definitely recommend you to others.

Room Tip: Rooms on the side are quieter - especially in the evenings when the entertainment is taking place.

Recently had a 7 all inclusive night family holiday at Best Mojacar. We had never been to this area before so didn't know what to expect. We booked through Thomas Cook, and the flight, transport to hotel and reps at airport were very efficient. Reception at the hotel was friendly and efficient, we were checked in very quickly and they were helpfull in answering any questions. Rooms were clean and beds were large and comfortable although on the hard side. Rooms were fitted with safes. AC worked well, however you need the key card and doors closed for it to work. We were lucky as we got a pool and sea view which was excellent. Food was excellent, huge variety, and they catered for Brits with full cooked breakfast. Red, white and rose wine, beer and variety of soft drinks served with lunch and dinner. 2 fully stocked bars, large indoor and small poolside. Sometimes got busy at peak times but I never once had a problem getting drinks. All the bar staff were friendly and even if you don't have any Spanish skills you will get by without any problems. This is mainly a Spanish family hotel with a ratio of 80:20, but this was not a problem at all as everyone very friendly. Entertainment was nearly all in Spanish, not really a problem but got a bit repetitive. Excellent fun if you have little kids with the mini disco, but not enough adult music. Entertainment staff were excellent and worked really hard. If your after nightclub and dancing you will need to jump in a taxi. The pool was excellent, large enough for swimming and not too over crowded. All areas are clean and well kept. The beach was ok, and just a short walk, about 200m away. Pedlos, canoes, boats and jet ski are available, but are not cheap. Pool closes at a strict time of 2000 hrs, I found this out after going for a late swim and security coming from all angles to get me out! Top tip wear ear plugs, both myself and my daughter got ear infections, probably from the sea. If you want a sun bed get up and grab one before you go to breakfast. Quite a few great excursions can be sorted out through the rep, although quite expensive. In summary would recommend this hotel and would go again.
