“Great authentic good, with lovely service”

We have eaten here several times on our trip this time, and each time the food has been well prepared, tasty and served with good wine. Well worth trying.

“good food but touristic price”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2013

the food was good but for the portion it was too much expensive. The location is nice, you can eat outside on the street of the village.

“Authentic tapas in lovely Mojacar”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2012 via mobile

Following a recommendation from lonely planet (usually pretty good) we went to this little tapas bar for an evening bite. It's down near the old city gate (look out for signs) and when we finally stumbled upon it it was empty. At around 10 it came to life with all the locals chatting, and ordering what seemed to be the speciality - quails egg, jamon and anchovies on toast (they sell these to go via a seperate window also!).
Great proper tapas in a very rustic old bar. Portions tend to be on the big side so don't order too much especially the cheese and ham board (jamon y queso). Gambas in chili oil are particularly good too. I'd recommend coming in before 10 and the locals as its very small and not many seats either. Also not all tapas are available which I guess is a good sign. But lovely food and very Spanish local feel.

Nice tapas. Friendly staff. Mojacar has not too many places to eat properly. This restaurant serves decent food For decent prices.

“Best Tapas in Mojacar”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2009

I have been coming to Mojacar for ten years and this is the only place I visit every time. It is situated in the old town by the old gate entrance to the town - a very pretty often photographed spot. There are a small number of tables situated outside which I prefer though in the winter months inside also has a great atmosphere. THe food is basic, uncomplicated tapas cooked well. I particularly like the pimientos de padron and the alpafgata - quails egg, anchiovy, iberian ham and tomato on toast - delicious combination.

The only downsides are that I have watched the prices slowly creep up so it is no longer the cheap option it once was. Also, be prepared that some dishes are as basic as they sound - potato stuffed with sausage is literally a boiled potatoe with a hole in and a sausage pushed through!

Never the less do not be put off - this is proper spanish tapas - the real deal, family run with excellent service.
