“Nice traditional restaurant in a busy neighborhood”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

We choose this restaurant based on the green Michelin guide and we were not disappointed. It is a very traditional Portugese restaurant in the very busy Vila Nova de Gaia. We did not know which starters to choose (it was our first day in Portugal) and the chef prepared some plates so we could taste several starters. Then we had the traditional Cod oven dish (Bacalhau) for 2. It was excellent and refined, with large portions of fish, potatoes and onions. It was perfectly cooked (not dry as cod can be) and too much for us to eat.

“Fish recommended”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

The restauerant was empty when we passed it, but we decided to try it anyway. We had their Dom Luis cod special which did not dissapoint us. It was a well balanced dish with a perfectly cooked cod. Dessert was a very standard crema leite and a sub standard pudding. Worth a visit.

“Great family run Restaurant - a little gem”
Reviewed August 5, 2012

Go here you won't be disappointed - a family run business with great food and a nice atmosphere. Ate here twice during our stay and are likely to return again before we go home. Try the creme brûlée for dessert and also the home made soup is amazing. There are not many tables but this does much for the atmosphere. Check it out you won't be disappointed and you can also check out what's cooking in the kitchen too- which is always a good sign. Well worth a visit but not on Mondays when they take a well earned rest.

“Great lunch and good service”
Reviewed May 18, 2012

My husband and I had lunch at this restaurant and were the only non-locals dining in. We had a simple lunch of omelets and tomato salad and it was all freshly made and of high standard. The service was impeccable with the two front of house men dressed in black pants, white shirts and bow ties. There was cloth table linen and the service was with a smile. The fresh bread rolls were fantastic. This restaurant is very different to the touristy ones along the same street.
