This hotel is fantastic and it made our trip to Portugal. We visited Lisbon, Porto and the Madeira Islands on vacation, and our four days in Porto were the highlight.
Upon arrival, a couple of things stand out. First is location. The hotel sits perched on a hill in Vila Nova da Gaia across the Douro River from downtown Porto. Sandeman, Taylor Fladgate, Cockburns, Ramos Pinto and Offleys port houses are all within a quick walk if port is your thing.
Second are the views. The panorama never got old. I must have taken fifty pictures. I was told every room has a view of the city.
The hotel itself is well appointed and the design is clean. The restaurant (Gastronomic) produced our best meal of the trip. Very expensive, but memorable. The spa and pool are both top notch; even the toiletries in the room are superb (my wife loves Claudilie products).
Good people too. Vaida, Joao, Nuno and Sergio were welcoming, fun and easygoing. They also helped us with our terrible Portuguese.More
