We were here as part of a Douro Valley tour. Our meal was served promptly, hot
and abundant as family style. We has cod and also a grilled meat with many sides.
Wine was also included as was the delicious cake soaked in port wine. Large windows
with a view of the river. Lastly, service was excellent. Would come here again. Also,
locals were here too.

We first visited Sabores Do Douro in May 2017, as part of a day's wine tour of the Douro Valley. We were very impressed with the meal and so, this May on an independent holiday in the Douro Valley, we decided to revisit the restaurant for lunch.

The restaurant is located next to and above the Bombeiros Station in Pinhao, slightly above the main street of the village but easy to find. A largish room with curved windows on three sides, giving views right down the river.

We arrived with no booking but were accommodated after a very short wait. Staff were understanding of our faltering Portuguese and happy to make recommendations. We had pork chops with rice and black beans, a huge salad, bread, 'drunk' cake and coffee, washed down with a 1/2 litre of white wine and a couple of glasses of complimentary port wine (thank you very much!) and the bill came to 25 Euros - wonderful.

Lastly, of all the chances, we bumped into our tour guide from last year, taking another group there for lunch!

We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant, good, honest food, friendly atmosphere, great views, good prices - what is there not to love?!

We were there as part of a tour group out of Porto. We sat down to a delicious family style lunch. We had codfish cakes with blackeyed beans and roast pork and potatoes with a wonderful sauce. Also a big salad and a side of rice. Carafes of very drinkable red and white wine and “drunken cake “ made with port wine reduction. Killer!! Good service rounded out a very satisfying meal. Well worth a visit.

Visited here with friends whilst visiting the vineyards in the Douro Valley. Food was presented on sharing plates, and we had a mixture of fish stew and chicken between us. Flavours were great and there was plenty of food to go round. Our only point to note is that we prefer individual plates rather than a sharing plate. For pudding we had a lovely 'dragon cake' which was basically a treacle sponge soaked in port....highly recommended. It would have been nice to sit outside but there didn't seem to be an outside area; location seemed a little off the beaten track but there was a stunning view of the vineyards. Service was excellent.

We went for lunch here while waiting for a boat to Tua. A bit of a mission to find it on a hot day but worth the effort. Even though english was in short supply the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was basic but very tasty and large portions. We had the 2 dishes of the day, they being veal with vegetables and mash along with bacalhau croquettes with black eyed beans and a large salad. We were absolutely ravenous and to our amazement managed to eat most of our meal, my wife then had slice of "drunk cake" which is a local specialty while I had an espresso. including our drinks the bill came to the princely sum of 20 euro.
Due to the hard surfaces and a couple of large groups it was quite noisy but nothing to detract from our enjoyment of the meal.
