We stayed here with our tour group for one night. Our old-fashioned room was on the small side, and contained a queen-sized bed, night tables, free-standing wardrobe, armchair, desk and chair. There was also some kind of sofa/bench at the foot of the bed. I don't know exactly what its purpose was; we used it to keep our suitcases on, as there was no other place for them. There was a small flat-screen TV, difficult to see from the bed, which was the only place from which to view it. In any case, the only English-anguage broadcasts were news programs. There were a minibar and a safe, and no good reading lamp.

The bathroom had a tub/shower combo, and you needed to stand inside the tub to get to the controls. There was no hot water in the morning (others in our group had the same problem) and the sink faucet leaked.

Wi-fi was available in the public area, but Internet could be accessed from the rooms by a cable connection (free).

The best part of our room was the view, which overlooked a beautiful garden.

Use of the spa was 10 euros/day, but the outdoor pool was free. There was also a tennis court and a children's playground.

There was one small elevator for the entire hotel.

The buffet breakfast was adequate.

Room Tip: Ger one overlooking the garden.

The hotel preserves the golden 20's Art Nouveau so once you arrive its like you're in a trip to the past.
The rooms have been remodelled and mix the original furniture style with contemporary approach. some rooms have wifi (try to choose one close to the main entrance). Breakfast is served in a ballroom with music playing from de 20's.
The hotel has a indoor pool with spa with a very modern design.
The staff is very helpful and provided us with all the necessary advices for dinner and site seeing.
Nearby attractions: dinning the famous "leitão" at mealhada and enjoyng a trip to Buçaco.

I stayed several times at this Hotel, on weekend getaways.

This is a unique charming Hotel, which managed to retain its glorious past whilst updating its rooms (completely renovated a few years ago, nicely mixing antique and contemporary decoration) and SPA facilities. Social areas are very well preserved, keeping its noble character of the 20's.

Service is excellent. Breakfast quality is excellent. The Restaurant is also very good, even though a bit pricey when compared to close by alternatives .

The outdoor area is very nice and relaxing, but the level of maintenance varies. The Olympic pool is a great place to relax (though clearly needing some restoration), and the gardens are also very nice. However, this a point where the Hotel does not explore its full potential.

This classic hotel is charming, but it is far from a 5-star hotel. Its strengths are the charming classic old style, the stupendous dining and breakfast room, the quality of breakfast, the quiet environment, and the mini-spa; also, it is a delightful trip by train and the railway station is just 500 m away. Although antique, the rooms are modern and comfortable, but do not expect too much. Its weaknesses are the inexperienced staff (voluntarious, but mainly consisting of young elements), the lack of entertainment/activities for children, and the degraded outdoor spaces. It is a pitty that there is enourmous potential in the gardens, farm and swimming pool (once a region's ex-libris), but the lack of investment in the outdoor areas is more than evident.
If you are looking for a calm and quiet weekend stay, this is a great hotel, provided you find reasonable fares. If this is the case, buy the spa package and profit from the saunas, massage, and - especially - the warm-water indoor pool.

Meals in the hotel are good, but expensive. I strongly recommend the family-run restaurant "Pinheiro Manso", 400 m southwards of the hotel - cheap and very nice.

Room Tip: The extra money for rooms with a view is not worth it. Rooms with a view to the interior patio are j...

We staied for 2 nights at Curia Palace. Its an old Hotel with a glorious past. Have been restored recently and kept the imponent public areas from the old times. Good rooms but you can hear the noise from the upper floor.

The service was excellent and they do try to make everything to please the customers. Nice surroundigns with a park, tenis and a smal lake. We dindn't try the Spa. The pool was ok.

The dinner was above average but there are plenty of very good restaurants in the surroundings.

Room Tip: Higher floor

It was our second time in this hotel and we just love it. It's old, charming, with a beautiful 20’s atmosphere.

The good: The hotel is antique but the rooms are fully refurnished and look very modern. You can expect a spacious room and bathroom, a new TV and comfortable bed. Everything was very clean and of good quality. The breakfast is standard quality but in a very nice room.

The bad: The AC doesn’t work very well. We had problems with the room temperature in both times we stayed at this hotel. The Wi-Fi is also very poor. I asked the receptionist for the place where I could have a better signal reception and still it was too bad.

And the ugly: It has a very decent indoor swimming pool and SPA. It’s just a shame that they charge extra for the use of the SPA especially in those times when the hotel is almost empty.

Room Tip: Ask for the outer rooms. The inner rooms have no view and low natural light

We booked for a romantic weekend and the hotel offers all needed, nice art deco atmosphere, modern and clean room, very nice spa with jacuzzi and swimming pool.
The only problems we had were that its far away from any big town, the pillows in the room were very uncomfortable, despite the modern and brand new looking furniture and the most frustrating: the air conditioning was very noisy and it would not stop during the whole night so we just couldn't sleep well.
The buffet breakfast was good but not excellent, the staff was absolutley adorable and really nice.
