“Great hotel in a relaxed location”
Reviewed January 11, 2012

The hotel is great and I would visit when in the area. The service was great an the hotel is very clean. The hotel is modern and worth staying at. They offer a complimentary breakfast which has choices availble for everyone. The hotel can get busy being on a college campus but when in your room there are no issues with noise. There are numerous coffee shops and restuarants within a very short walking distance.

Been to this hotel on many occasions. Reception and breakfast staff are very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are a good size, with separate lounge area with sofa, chairs and kitchen area. There is a small market shop next to reception for snacks etc. The Monarch Grill is right next door and offers lunch, dinner, happy hour on drinks. There is a Starbucks and a few good restaurants, which offer good value, within walking distance. We use this hotel for it's convienience although many hotels offer lower prices in downtown Norfolk eg Norfolk Plaza.

Room Tip: Get a room away from road to avoid traffic noise.

This hotel stay was excellent, as my family and friends came into town for my graduation. The staff were awesome in helping to diffuse possible family issues (divorce), late arrivals, etc. Mrs. Misty was especially understanding and helpful=AWESOME. Everyone was great. The hotel was nice and made sure all our needs were met. Thank you for a wonderful experience that could been terrible had it not been for the staff. They deserve a great reward.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel appear to be quieter than those on Hampton Blvd

My profile states that I prefer a high floor away from the elevator, mainly because I am a light sleeper. When I checked in I was given a hight floor, right next to the elevator, and facing a busy street where 18 wheelers would often have to stop at the street light.
I asked to be relocated and was given a quiet room.
Overall the hotel is nice, clean, and conveniently located a short drive to the Naval Base.

We stayed at This hotel to attend a graduation. We got in late and the desk manager had walked away so we had to wait a bit to be let into the main lobby. When we checked in we were informed to only park on the 1st floor or the top floor as cars have been vandalized or towed if on the inbetween floors. The room itself was clean and comfortable. There were a few issues, there was no lotion or conditioner the hotel had run out and the fridge in the main sitting area gave off a loud hum all night. The room is very large with a sitting area full with sofa, sitting chair and desk. A particle wall separates the area with 2 beds. The room had lots of various lighting which was very helpful for 3 people who were in various states of sleepiness. It was clean, and there was ample closet space. There's only 1 TV which seems odd for a room of that size as well as its positioning in the room. There is a restaurant next door. You have to step outside to reach it but its literally 6 steps away.

The hotel is located on the Old Dominion campus and we saw campus security twice walking the streets. Now you need to remember to never leave your room without a key. You need your room key to get into the building, use the elevator, access the pool, exercise room & get back in if you walk to the restaurant. While we were there a lacrosse team was at our hotel. It was nice and quiet but the free breakfast int he morning was overly crowded. There were signs directing the team to eat in a meeting room but when its far from the food i completely understand why they chose to sit on the floor.

The breakfast is your standard hotel breakfast with cereal, baked goods, yogurt and a waffle maker. They had eggs and bacon i believe as well.

This was my 1st time at the Springhill chain and i would definitely stay at it again based on the room size but the key to go everywhere was a bit of a pain. I understand but its still annoying.

We stayed here to ride out Irene and it was wonderful, after having stayed about a year before before closing on our house. Rooms are efficient - a small but luxurious feeling sink/cabinet area with fridge and a sitting area. The TV is large, but it is located in between the sitting area and the beds, so you have to swivel it. You can't watch it from both areas simultaneously. The bathroom is a bit utilitarian, but all the finishings seem good quality. Coffee in the lobby all the time in good flavors. Typical hotel breakfast. Tiny pool. Bar/Grill connected to hotel is fantastic. One poor guy - probably the manager - and one poor gal were cooking and serving for all us Irene refugees and they did a fabulous job. The Bar/Grill delivers to your room, too. Tons of TVs on different sports events fill the bar area; nice collegiate feel. Strongly recommend.

Room Tip: Some rooms have a tub, some do not.
