Fantastic restaurant. Great selection of menu items. Service was wonderful and our server went out of his way to make our dining experience positive. The salmon was excellent and the wedge salad sublime. Would definitely try again.

Service was great, food was good (except for the steak bites; menu said strip steak, waiter said rib eye, either way, half fat and chewy), atmosphere is always lively. Great location to people watch, whether you are inside or outside dining. They have a good wine selection and the waiter was very helpful, giving us a taste of 2 before we ordered.

I don't understand why this place is so popular. I have had lunch here four times now, mostly for because of lunch meeting scheduled there. Every time I have gone, I have found the food to be a great disappointment. I have ordered different things, with the thought that maybe I had a fluke. From the mushroom wrap was not very good and had an odd flavor. The macaroni and cheese was penne pasta pasta with hardly a cheese sauce that took 45 minutes. In the 45 minutes it took for lunch to be served, we were not offered anything else, not even bread. People came in after received food before us. The "homemade" Brunswick stew that tasted like a can of Campbell's soup. I don't understand why people go to this place. There are much better lunch options all over the downtown Norfolk area. I will try to prevent any more lunch meetings from happening here. I recommend everyone go somewhere else.

Had a wonderful time at the 219 last evening. Excellent food and, more importantly, very nice service. Instead of the usual appetizer/entree, we opted for two appetizers each and were readily accommodated. I had a southwest Caesar salad and Cajun shrimp over cornbread and wilted spinach. Excellent!!! A nice bottle of a New Zealand Sauvingon Blanc and scrumptious dessert rounded off the evening. Highly recommend visiting this quaint bistro! You will not be disappointed.

One of the better choices downtown for dinner. We were there recently and found the service good and the meal mostly good with a few exceptions. The fried oyster appetizer was terrific as usual, and the fried calamari was also tasty. The crab cakes were large and enjoyed, but did not need to be literally smothered in mustard sauce. The blackened salmon Oscar was delicious, however it was not very warm when served. It was sent back and returned a bit warmer.
The only disappointment aside from the cold salmon dish was the steak. It was done as requested to be pink inside, it did not look overdone. However it was not juicy; it was dry and disappointing. And the accompanying French fries were served cold and they were limp, soggy, not crispy at all.
There is a fairly strong beer selection, it has improved compared to previous visits, the wine pour was generous, and they have some creative cocktails that look appealing.
