We were a little taken aback by the nondescript exterior, but the restaurant was as good as we had been told. It had some good wines, a very mixed menu, friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere.

We had a great experience at 219. There are very few restaurants open for lunch in Norfolk but this one is a gem. The Crab Cake Eggs Benedict was fabulous and the wine list offered affordable choices. Our server Ryan was attentive and helpful and even offered suggestions for restaurants for the next leg of our trip to Virginia Beach.

I've eaten here a few times now, and each experience has been positive. The menu is varied and interesting. The food is good. The service is good. The atmosphere is comfortable. You won't pay an arm and a leg. We've never had trouble getting a table. If you find yourself looking for a nice dinner in downtown Norfolk, this is a good place to try.

So many great reviews we had to give it a try. Rating restaurants almost entirely on the merits of its food I'm afraid we found 219 only average, especially for the price. The server mentioned their specialties so i ordered the fried green tomato salad, which was very very good. The crab cake entree? Not so much. My husband got the flounder which was 2 huge filets of fish, your average potato and a few vegetables. The server was very attentive, took his job very seriously. Why do places need to crank the AC so high??? Pretty cold interior. Bring a sweater!
