We were told to get there at least 15 minutes before departure - just as we purchased our tickets (which we had a $4 per person coupon - fabulous) the ticket person said the ship was boarding now.

My husband has a hard time walking due to a brain injury at birth and we were scrambling to rush to the dock which was quite a ways from the ticket counter. The captain of the boat graciously came to where we were (halfway to the dock) and brought my husband a wheelchair to help him and offered to take him back when we returned. (THAT'S customer service) I was very grateful to the Captain since during our stay we had a few bad experiences.

The tour lasted about two hours and since it was beautiful and very warm (80 degrees) winter day, we opted to go up on top of the boat. The captain gave us a very detailed tour of the naval base along with information about other buildings we passed. It was not only entertaining but educational as well.

We thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it if you're looking to do something a bit more leisurely.

For the quibbles, the tour is a worthwhile 2 hours to understand the commercial importance of the Hampton Roads harbor, the capabilities of the US Navy and some of the history of the area. Being on the water gives you a perspective that you cannot get from land.

Went on the cruise with my son's family, including 2 grandchildren - 7 and 10. The cruise was a little long for them and there was a lot of minutia about the ships that was more interesting to adults and boring for them.

For the adults the tour was really very good. Lots of interesting history about the harbor, going back to the War of 1812, as well as information about the freight handling - so it is more than just the Naval Base. A lot of information about the ships we saw, including the USS Cole. Sometimes the narration seemed a little rushed, trying to get ALL the facts out before we got to the next ship.

OMG! What a wonderful chance to see those enormous ships that protect us. We saw so many different ships, aircraft carriers you would be in awe! The newest aircraft carrier in port was the USS George H W Bush. What a wonderful piece of US history along with so many others. Thanks to the Captain and Crew for a wonderful interpretation of the land and sea.

What a two hour experience that was.....we loved it. Lots of ships and narrated the whole time. Military and container ships were abound as well as coal ships and tugs. It was a great experience and we will be back.

Well worth every penny if you like military hardware. We had an informative trip around Norfolk harbor and got to see USS George Bush, USS Cole and USS Burke along with so so many others. The boat used for the tour was very comfortable too with air conditioned lower deck and excellent open viewing deck up top.
