It's excellent, relaxing, informative and interesting cruise through a historical and currently significant harbor. We took the 5:30 tour on a Monday that had rained earlier in the day, so the boat was maybe a third full. There are really only two things to say, if you are interested in a harbor tour then do it. Secondly, if you do it, sit on the starboard/right side for the best views of almost everything during the narration. The tour is out and back, so you see everything a second time, but the return trip is mostly without narration. There is an air conditioned cabin with padded seats and a top deck that is partially shaded with hard plastic chairs. It's going to be hard to resist going back a second time during our week in Virginia.

We visited Nauticus Center and took a Victory Rover cruise on a Friday evening in August, 2012. The tour boat was moderately full, but had enough room for all to move around and get views from the bow and the aft. The two hour tour was essentially a 1 1/2 hour tour and 1/2 hour getting back to the dock (retracing your steps, so it wasn't like they didn't cover the last part of the trip). The crew was all very pleasant and engaging, wanting to answer questions and making sure you were comfortable. The tour narrator was exceptional. He provided information to keep both the casual and very interested passenger interested. He had a working knowledge of the areas and all of the naval vessels in port. When a Coast Guard cutter on its way into port passed, he even was able to provide information about the cutter and its mission. Kids on our trip (4-13) all enjoyed the tour.

We made a telephone reservation which is a good idea as the boat was pretty full. The road directions to a parking garage nearby were excellent. There is both sheltered and open seating on top plus ac salon. If you want to be in shade up top get there early! The captain gave a very clear and interesting commentary virtually nonstop for the first 90mins of the tour. The loudspeaker system was excellent and his information clearly and interestingly conveyed. We saw a vast array of US Navy ships and learnt a great deal about their capabilities. Awesome as they are! There were two Nimitz super aircraft carriers in port to deliver a fitting finale to the tour. As we turned for home the commentary ended and we enjoyed a quiet 30 min return to base. An excellent and good value tour - especially if you use one of the 4 dollar per person discount vouchers available on tourist maps.

We were excited to see so many military ships in the harbour. The guide on the ship narrated the whole tour live, which was nice because we got all information very updated. We thought it was inexpensive for a two-hour cruise, as we got tickets that included the museum and battleship Wisconsin as well. The seats in the boat where comfortable and on a hot day like we had, the airconditioning was very welcome.
