Awful experience at this restaurant. After receiving the check our waitress informed us our table was reserved and we had to leave. One lady in our party went to the owner to express dissatisfaction. He did not offer another table or any regret in this matter. When told we would not return his reponse was "SO" !!!.. By the way did I also mention the food was awful. Stale bread , soggy French fries, and excessive use of Old Bay seasoning. We felt badly for the customers going in --spread the word !

Try the Pescatore! For $18, you get a combination of pasta, shrimp, oysters, and other shell fish in a wine sauce. It is very filling but light.

I stopped into Captain Groovey's by happenstance. I was hungry and saw the sign while driving down Shore Drive. It was worth it. The servers were very nice and the food was very good.

The food here GREAT, my favorites are the burritos and the crab soup. But everything is yummy and if you don't think it is just tell the chef when he comes by to see how you liked your dinner because he really wants to know. I prefer to sit outside, inside is dark and loud. Sometimes at dinner parking is impossible and you might have to wait for a table, you'll be glad you did.

What a weird night. We waited about an hour for a table so we got to see quite a bit of how this place is run. There was no visible management on duty. We were told there was a 45 minute wait, there were 4 visible empty tables so we are unsure why they couldn't seat us. About 20 minutes into our wait the hostess disappeared from the front station. The next 10 or so groups of potential diners stood at the front and eventually left. Others who were waiting walked out, one was kind enough to erase their own name from the wait list. After 45 minutes a waitress told us she was going to be killed for seating us. She left us with menus(at a table that had been empty the entire time near the door). We ordered drinks and the waitress rolled her eyes and said the bartender was going to be furious at her for our order. Not sure what she meant by that. Bizarre! We watched people walk in and seat themselves and actually be served drinks, apps and meals before us. They left when we were getting our meals. So bizarre! The only reason I didn't give it a lower rating is that the meal actually tasted good and was well prepared. I can't figure out how they got the kitchen part of the business right but nothing else. Just weird!!! The tables around us remained unbussed for the entire service including bills left on the table. What appeared to be a busboy came out to look at a spider coming down from the ceiling. That was the most employees we had seen that night.....

Stopped in while traveling to the coast. Great seafood in a beach bar atmosphere. Great beer selection with killer clams and oysters. We will definitely make this a pit stop every time we are headed to Virginia Beach.
