Stayed here Aug 27-29 in an Oceanfront 2 queen bed room. Found the room to be pleasant, but could have been cleaner. My toddler found earplugs under the bed and a receipt from the previous guest on the floor somewhere. Best feature by far was the semi private feel of the beach. NOT crowded or "touristy" at ALL. There really wasn't any shopping or resturants like at VA beach. If you are looking for a quiet, family beach trip this hotel isn't bad. I will say my husband ran to the 7-11 for some snacks one night, to see several "ladies of the night" walking in the general area. So I wouldn't advise roaming around the streets by foot at night. The beach side stayed family friendly and quiet, though. Overall decent experience. Would probably go back.

We have stayed at this facility for the past 6 years and this was by far the worst conditions ever. We were placed in a very small room where the kids had to use a pull out couch that had a bad mattress and the springs poked them in the back all night long. We asked for a newer mattress and was told they were having "Maintenance problems" This was the story of the whole visit! Everything we asked about was "maintenance" problems. They gave us a new room, we did our check for bed bugs, as we always do, and guess what we found.. YEP! BUGS! We decided to stay in our current room instead (we knew it was safe) Went to the local Wal-Mart and purchased a mattress pad for the kids so they could sleep. They told us protocol for a room that has found bed bugs was to Quarantine it for two weeks along with the ones beside it & above it, have them cleaned & rechecked. Guess what.... a few days later they rented it out anyway with no cleaning at all! We ended our stay immediately and checked out. Those poor people had no idea what this hotel just did to them, I pray they did not have children!. I told them at the front desk that I knew what they had done, guess what, more issues with "MAINTENANCE". The pool was terrible! The pump was not working properly, so the water was so cloudy.. they dumped shock into it every morning just to keep it going... more maintenance problems... the washer & dryer broke down each day. For some strange reason they removed the water sprayers to rinse off the sand from the beach & instead have you go into the pool area to rinse off... which is why the pool has a ton of sand in it & the pump isn't working! I was told when they removed them for inspection, someone plastered over them. The rooms were not nearly as clean as they had been in prior visits, things have really gone downhill at this place fast. They removed the nice pattern they used to have on the pool patio & painted it a nasty cream color which was tarnished with mildew in a lot of places. The pool had two year old scum on the tile, made me ill to look at. I kept expecting to see someone out there at night time starting a cleaning process after the pool area closed.. nope, never happened.. There were hair ties & foam pieces from kids toys that are probably still there! These people do NOTHING to clean! They didn't even water the flower pots, they just replaced the flowers when they died, I even commented to the guy that if he watered the pots, they would not have to buy new plants each week! I was truly saddened by this trip.. After six years we will never stay here again... Such a shame....

So just stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and loved it. The view from the room was spectacular. Especially the sunrises every morning. The tower is the way to go. Each room in the tower has its own balcony so you can sit out there and also enjoy the view. There is not a restaurant on site which is one of the reasons I only gave 4 stars. The other reason is my bed seemed hard compared to my coworkers in the room next door. I was on government TDY so my price was within the perdiem rate which made the rest of the coworkers who stayed in town very jealous!! All-in-all, excellent place to stay with an entire staff that is there for the customer.

Taking a chance on the relatively out of the way east beach turned out to be a fantastic move. The suite was quite spacious with two very comfortable queens and a nice pull out. The hotel staff are very friendly offering restaurant advice, directions and even beach chairs.

The hotel has a HUGE deck with seating along the rail that meets the dunes or at tables with umbrellas to shield you from the hot summer sun.

The only downside was housekeeping. They didn't show on day one. Day two and three they didn't bring coffee and day two we ran out of toilet paper.

Other than that this is now my go-to place when in Norfolk.

We stayed for 1 week here and it was great. For the price of 4 days at a top hotel in Virginia Beach you can stay here for a week. The suites in the motel section (there is a hotel , too, connected) are very large and have all new appliances in the kitchen. Everything was clean, updated and so relaxing. The walls must be sound-proofed because we never heard a thing from our neighbors and the hotel was sold-out. They have a great pool area and deck with tables and umbrellas and grills you can use. Lots of people sat out there to read and social at night. The beach is right there and clean. If you want bigger waves and more crowds just take the road the hotel is on 20 minutes due east and there is Virginia Beach. We had alot of restaurants to choose from within 5-10 minutes, too. They have a nice laundry room and a good breakfast. The exerxice room is limited to 3 machines with no weights, tho. Everyone gets a parking pass which keeps others from coming in to use the beach from the outside. There were tons of teenagers there for the national jr. olympics and it was still quiet at nite. We noticed lots of families from other countries, too, which were nice to talk to at the pool. You cannot go wrong here especially for the size. Our room comfortably slept 6. Everyone commented on how it was bigger than most apts in big cities. We will definitely go back!

The hotel was clean, tidy and friendly. It was on a quiet beach. The room was large. We stayed in a suite. Easy drive to the tourist attractions. Would reccomend to anyone that wanted a quiet, relaxing get away.
