The overall mood of the stay began with the teenage valets who were more interested in their conversations than their guests. With this crowd work was an interruption. It was not until the last morning at 6:30 (June 6) that they had someone on who wanted to work. The front desk staff were very efficient during check in and later when I came down to pick up a package.
6/1 - 6/6 My room was missing a curtain when I arrived and even after I reported it they never came up to fix it and I guess housekeeping never noticed. The other issue was the bed. The bed was much lower on one of the top corners then at the bottom and after a long night with very little sleep I found out the next morning that the frame was undone so I let the front desk know. They came to fix it on my last day there but did not make sure that the bed was even because then it rolled downhill side to side instead of foot to head which lead to another rough night.
I was there for an event and the biggest complaint was the lack of Coffee on the tables, they refused to put a pot on the table and when they filled the cups it was only halfway and if you wanted tea it was a long wait. This would not have been such a big deal except in the rooms they had an 8 cup coffee pack for a 1 cup pot. Every meal except for Breakfast was very good in the event room. I would also note that the hook for the towel on the back of the bathroom door has been torn off and the big splinter is still there. I really do expect more from a Sheraton and this does not deliver what it could with the location and brand.
I did eat in the restaurant a few times and the staff and the food were great.
I would stay there if there was another event but would not choose it for leisure. I would also not pay more for a water view room as you are overlooking a working ship yard.
The parking garage is not next to the hotel but next to the building next door, I did not feel all that safe going over there at night alone even though there was a guard in the lobby of the next building watching camera feeds. I did not feel like they could get help to me in a timely fashion if there was a problem unless I was parked right next to the door and the guard was watching the right camera. They do offer valet parking but it is $22 per day and the kids you give your car to will remind you of all the worst stories you have ever heard or seen.
They offer a shuttle that is run by the valets and the one day that myself and another person wanted to go to eat we asked for them to take us and they said that even though it was only 1.3 miles away there were to many lights and he did not want to deal with them. Really! But they are only untrained kids with no supervision so what do you expect. I had my car so we drove, it took me a whole 5 minutes.
You expect a lot of this from a lower brand or some independents but not a Sheraton... but maybe you should.
