“Looking forward to a 4th stay”
Reviewed May 4, 2009

This was my 3rd time I have stayed at the Oasis Hotel and I am hoping to stay for a 4th. Oasis is a beautiful, wonderful and clean Hotel. The bar was brilliant for cocktails (Blue Lagoon is my favourite) but the entertainment at night was boring and drinks are expenisve compared to local bars. Food was brilliant and so much choice. The rooms were very clean with great views. The parrott called Rita was very funny. The outdoor swimming pool was clean but very cold and the indoor pool was much warmer. The staff were always very kind and helpfull and could speak very good english. The local bars were good value for food and drinks.

My family stayed in this Hotel back in August 2008 and had a wonderful time! We had a family room, with sea view which was very light, spacious and clean. In fact the whole hotel was clean and staff very friendly, its in a beautiful spot with a fresh water swimming pool and a short walk to a Lido. The views are quite breathtaking! The hotel itself is a little dated and not exactly luxurious BUT nothing really to complain about. During the summer months there is plenty of evening entertainment. The hotels biggest downfall is the restaurants both the buffet and a la carte leave a lot to be desired and are really pricey, however in the village of Canico there are several fabulous local restaurants to eat at and they offer a pick up and drop off service free of charge - just ask at reception!!!! All in all we had a wonderful time, it really felt as if we'd stepped back in time!!!!

We just got back from a 3 night stay at Oasis Atlantic. The hotel is wonderful. The setting is quiet and beutiful. The staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful, helping us arrange tours, suggesting places to eat, etc. Though we enjoyed Funchal very much, it was nice being able to come back at night to a peaceful environment. The breakfast each morning was very good and even in the breakfast room we were given personal attention by the friendly staff. The hotel provided a shuttle bus for free to and from Funchal. They also arrange airport shuttles which was more reasonable than anything I could find on the internet. I would recommend this hotel to my friends, and would definitely consider staying there again.

First a confession, this was the fourth time my wife and I had stayed at the Oasis. Quite simply, its a great hotel. If you want the hustle and bustle of a city - this is NOT for you. Its quiet, relaxed and perhaps a bit slow for some. We have always gone half board and the food is good - better than our last visit. As with all hotels of this size, it has to be a bit safe, but it is always well cooked and a fair variety. The staff cannot do enough for you, from the cleaners to the manager, they are polite, helpful and good at what they do. The rooms are clean and well appointed, as is the hotel itself. There is a very attractive promenade, and, on an island without any real beaches to talk of, a small man-made one.

A courtesy bus runs into Funchal every day except Sunday, and the local bus is worth taking a risk on. In fact from Funchal, you can get buses to most of the island.

There is no 'kids club' etc, and most people were on the older side, but it is a great hotel and I would recommend it to anyone wanted a relaxing break. Though don't all go....not at once!

Just returned from a week at the Oasis Atlantic, everything was great apart from the fact there were no shops if you were on a self catering board. I was trying to cater for seven people including a two year old and a five month old and the nearest supermarket was in the main town which was an 18 euro return trip away. The hotel only stocked: beer, wine, water, tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, crisps and sweets. I think the lack of catering facilities should be stated in the brochure. It would have been possible to book into the hotel on a HB basis but the restaurant did not really cater for children. The hotel had a play room for children but all the toys were broken.

We have just returned from two weeks at the Oasis, Well what can I say. WOW. Everything was lovely. Our room was huge, more like a suite. Dana our maid kept every thing lovely for us and always had a smile whenever we saw her, The breakfast was fabulous, fruit, cerials, full english, cold meats and cheese, fresh baked bread, crossiants and cakes, we ate so much we hardly needed lunch! The promenade in front of the hotel was a lovely walk to several nearby bars and restaurants, with dozens of local cats all after some fuss! The restaurant in the hotel did seem slightly more expensive than the local ones nearby, everyone seems to mention Origens with good reason, the food is excellent and the waiters friendly and a good source of local knowledge.Back to the Hotel,We got the free bus to Funchal every day and picked up a bus timetable from the tourist info board, we used the local buses and saved a fortune on excursions. Canico Town is a very steep walk from the Hotel , we did walk this several times, there is a lovely square and it feels very traditional. We also walked to Christo Rei from the Hotel, This took about an hour, but for me was unmissable. We definately will return to Madeira and this Hotel, the manager should be proud , I have stayed in many Hotels and this is absolutely one of the nicest, cleanest and friendliest I Have ever stayed at.

Just back yesterday from a Christmas week at the Oasis Hotel, Canico, Madeira, and want to recommend this place. A wonderful hotel and wonderful staff - suitable for everyone seeking a quiet relaxing holiday among similar minded people.
Very good facilities, pleasant and varied entertainment provided, and good food in the restaurants (two) and grill (really a bar-snacks area).
Facilities include decent pools (one indoor), snooker (new table) and table tennis (full size table).
There is a free hotel bus service to Funchal - book a day in advance - or the local bus which calls at the hotel.
The room we had had a front sea view (over the pool area) with great views of three islands some ten kilometres from Madeira. (We had booked a garden room but on arrival found it a bit gloomy and too close to one of the paths to the promenade - reception quickly upgraded us to a room we would want on our return next year - the cost of upgrading was half that quoted to us by the travel company when we first made our bookings. So the lesson here is perhaps book the hotel on-line and arrange your travel through the travel company. Having said that, we travelled with First Choice and they were excellent both on the airline front both ways, and local rep Catherine.
The area is quite isolated from main resorts such as Funchal, but close to airport (15 minutes by motorway) and there are no easy walks apart from a rather short promenade - pretty in its own way. If there were good coastal paths this would be Paradise.
If one element of the Oasis sticks out it is the quality of the staff - there friendliness coupled with a keeness to assist is the best I've ever experienced at any holiday resort.
I recommend this to hotel for the holidaymaker seeking a relaxing time. (Could be suitable for families with young children, but not really for the livlier sort of teenager).
Go on , book it now.
