This hotel has put our faith back into hotels for a number if reasons : 1. no early morning queues for sunbeds, you can get one anytime if day and they aren't that horrible plastic.
2. No hectic dining room its nice and relaxed.
3. Friendly bar staff nothings too much trouble.
4. No reps trying to get you to join in games/quizzes.

We had a great 2 weeks at this hotel mid/end sep, it's nice and clean with decent air conditining. We stayed bed and breakfast but ate lunch at the hotel Some days which was always nice. Villamoura it's self is a short walk through the back gate (you just have to ask at reception to open the gate and buzz on the way back in,which some people moaned about but it's really not a problem just secure) the marinas really nice and lots of nice places to eat and drink. now we are big curry fans and we found a great Indian called chilli lounge it was that good we went 3 times, varinder and ramseh will make you most welcome. Plenty more places to eat and lots of fresh fish ,but take plenty of cash as some are expensive(but well worth it) but if you get short mcdonalds is 5 minutes away. The hotel bar is fantastic and cheaper than the ones in town only 2 euros a pint. All in all a nice friendly hotel ok it's not the ritz but then again it's not the ritz's prices. We would stay here again, already looking at booking next year.

This is a small hotel so you get to know fellow guests really easy. mostly retired couples, some who were there for 3 or weeks, and golfers. A very relaxed feel to the place no fight for sunbeds. The pool area is clean and quiet, lots of annoying little flies though, think this was due to the time of year.( october), weather was sunny and hot the first couple of days, part cloudy some days but still hot. We had very strong winds one night which resulted in damage to faro airport, this disrupted the flights and caused chaos apparently to the people flying out and coming in to faro. we flew the day after this and left on time ok.
Had a few spots of rain some days, but it is literally a few spots then the suns back out.
Pedro is a young lad who works his socks off, he makes the best cocktails, proper ones as i call them, made from scratch, for 5 euros there a bargain. spirits and mixers were 4 euros, beer 2 euros a pint. glass of lovely dry white wine 2.50. the cheapest bar in town.
The rooms are cosy and clean.
television with bbc1 and itv. Always hot water for a shower, dont rely on the hairdryer, the most awkward drier ive used.
Location ok, 10 mins to quatiera, this is a downmarket resort in my estimation, not my bag.
Use the back gate to get to villamoura in less than 10 mins.
Villamoura has a lovely harbour with nice restraunts, people have commented on how expensive it is, to be honest i didnt think it was that bad, weather they reduce the prices in october i dont know. we liked o'shaes irish bar. there is a bar underneath the olympus hotel called cats, me and my husband went in here thinking it was just a club, its a knocking shop. it didnt take us long to realise and we were out of there before we bought a drink.we just looked at each other and didnt need to say anything.....
although other reviews have said they think villamoura is very upmarket, apart the harbour, its just like any other holiday resort.
Back to the hotel, i would stay here again, especially for the very low price we paid, i think thats reflected in the location, graffiti all over the place and 2 muggings in 5 days. The little swines seem to go for the older people, they came at them on a bike, pushed one old guy to the floor and broke 3 of his fingers and swiped his wifes bag. The other one was the same again, on a bike, pushed the guy to the floor and grabbed his wifes gold necklace from around her neck.....the police arn't interested. So just be on your guard, one happened at the back of the hotel and one at the front.
The food is fine. breakfast, bread, a toaster, jams, marmalade. english sausage, scrambled egg, beans. fruit salad and yoghurts. unlimited tea coffee and juice.
Evening meal, hit and miss really. had a lovely stroganoff one night and the fish was always nice. For the price its fine.
Like i said i would stay at the hotel again no problem, just the resort didn't really do it for me. Give me cala dor marina any time.

Room Tip: The only rooms with decent views are the pool view. however side view rooms get the evening sun, but...

We spent a week here at the end of September and enjoyed it very much. All areas of the hotel are clean and the staff are very hard-working, friendly and helpful. The location is great, if you use the back gate you are in Vilamoura in 4 minutes!! The walk into Vilamoura along by the beach only takes 20 minutes at most and is lovely. Quarteira is about 10 minutes away and while not as upmarket as Vilamoura has a lovely promenade-walk and some nice places to eat. The majority of the guests during our stay were male and golfers which meant that we had the hotel pool to ourselves a lot of the time. All in all, a very relaxing time and I would have no hesitation in recommending the Praia Sol.

I cannot fault this hotel - only downsides were the breakfast which could have been hotter but the selection catered for all tastes. We went B&B but purchased our lunch poolside and shared a baguette which came with fries for 5.50 Euro. The bar prices were very reasonable 2 euro for a large beer and 4 euro for a G&T, bottle of the house wine was 8.50 euro. You could take the evening meal for 10 euro but we chose to eat out and found some nice restaurants locally. The hotel is very centrally located and only 10 mins from the marina. As per previous reviews there were a few golfers staying but didn't cause us any problems - in fact it meant the pool area was free most of the day - no reserving of sunbeds :-)

Room Tip: All rooms are of a good size but the ones over looking the car park, where we were had a bigger balc...

Stayed here for the last two weeks in August and had a wonderful time. An oasis of calm away from the busy resorts nearby. Staff friendly and helpful, room clean and bright, amenities all one needs for a peaceful quiet holiday. Would certainly return. Thanks Pedro and Cristina!!

this is a very friendly, family hotel in a very nice position approx 10 minutes walk from Villamora malrina. Both Pedro and Cristina look after the guests very well. For a 3 star hotel the food is of a good standard and served at the table, no buffet except at breakfast.I was there for 7 days and enjoyed the experience.

just back from a week at this hotel. fab staff, great location, lovely and peaceful, plenty of sun beds (no early morning towelfest). was on half board but ate out a couple of nights so changed dinner for lunch at hotel, no probs. spotlessly clean hotel. food good but perhaps could do with a bit more choice but understand in a small hotel they dont want alot of wastage. usually go all inclusive in bigger hotel so think iv been spoilt by choices. would definitely go back. vilamoura expensive but i knew that as iv been twice before some years ago and it was then, but well worth it. love watching the beautiful people come out at night. only thing i did notice from the last time i was there is that if you go one road back from certain areas of the marina it gets a bit seedy. dont remember it being like that before, saying that, theres no need to as everything you need is round the marina which is so pretty especially as the sun starts to set.
thankyou especially to christina and pedro who were such lovely young, hardworking people. a pleasure to meet you.

Room Tip: we had one overlooking pool with small balcony, bigger balcony at front of hotel.
