“Thoroughly enjoyable”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

Thoroughly enjoyable stay here; very friendly helpful staff. The hotel offers a free shuttle service a few times per day to the local town/beaches situated a few kms away, the buffets could be better with more food variety.

Having booked this hotel for our New Year break and having read the rave reviews on this website, I can honestly say I was disappointed with our holiday. We stayed all inclusive but the rules change to suit your face, staff are only bothered with what we can only say the more affluent customer so our faces clearly did not fit. The food isn't that great, breakfast is awful unless you like eggs, streaky, fat laden bacon and little gas induced sausages from the burners although larger sausages were put on for an evening meal one night and they were very tasty. No activities available apart from board games and cards available at the bar but even then you were lucky to get complete sets. We were not permitted to use the tennis courts, not sure why not. Housekeeping were well above standard but the rooms are large so needed a blast from the air con to get it cost of an evening. We found our feet however and ventured to Quarteira which if you don't get the bus is a thirty minute walk and well worth getting there. Our holiday was made by meeting a like-wised couple who also didn't "fit in" and they introduced us to Fantasia on the sea front. We didn't even go to the hotel's NY gala which was in our price. And for anyone who plans on taking their children to this hotel in the future, check that the TV in the reception is showing something other than the inappropriate channel we were faced with on our return to the hotel one evening. Not happy. I could go on but in short I would not recommend this to anyone even if they were looking for a cheap break like we were. I'll be spending a wee bit more money next time.

Room Tip: Twin rooms aare not great, they are single camp beds so there's no chance of you even pushing th...

Ideal for accessing the fantastic golf clubs within a 15 mile radious. If you stay all inclusive it is more cost effective than going half board. There are packed lunches if you request them to go down on their mini bus down to Quatera itself. Staff very helpful and rooms are clean and tidy. Can be noisy when its the School holidays.
Have stayed there 3 times so it cant be that bad.

Room Tip: Ask to stay in the apartment block at the far end of the Hotel with its own swimming pool. Much quie...

Hotel was fair for the price. When we booked it we weren't aware it was 3km from the beach. Saved by the courtesy bus! Couldn't fault the staff, apart from one that is. The restaurant manager would make a good MI5 spy, or even the new Dictator of Portugal! Watched everything that everyone did and made you feel most uncomfortable, as if you should not be there at all. Food could have been better. Was not geared for the British market. Special mention to Bruno, the bus driver, plumber, handyman, electrician and anything else that needed doing. He was the star of the week. Will we go to Portugal again? Definitely, but will make sure we are nearer the beach next time.

Stayed at the Pinhal for a four night break from 2nd to 6th December. Had an early flight with Monarch and have to say we can't fault them. Our seats were near the front and the leg room was the best ever (near the back coming home and they weren't as good but still ok). The transfer was only 20 minutes so we arrived in plenty of time for lunch. The receptionist was very welcoming on arrival and the room we were given was very large (think we were upgraded) and spotless. Plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, with a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom was a decent size with hairdryer and heater over the door which we found was much needed when the temperature dropped in the afternoon. The room was so big, and the ceiling quite high that we found it difficult to get warm and had to have the heating on all night. It was rather noisy but necessary. Probably great in the heat of summer. One morning the cars in the carpark were frosted over. We had lovely weather during our 4 days but didn't take adequate warm clothes for the evening. Breakfasts were adequate with choice of cold and warm dishes (Bucks fizz if you wanted). Because the hotel was quiet we had to order our lunches at the bar but there was a good choice with freshly prepared dishes like omelettes and burgers. Dinner had limited main dishes but what they did serve up was really good. The staff in the bar and restaurant were great (especially the rather cheeky Jessica) and good fun. We met a great crowd of like minded people and would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a last minute break. The weather changed as we were leaving so felt really lucky we went when we did.

Room Tip: First floor nice and quiet overlooking garden

I would never stay here again! I came to portugal for my 21st and although i understand it was out of season, i wouldnt expect the hospitality to change. On arrival a peice of paper was shunted into my hand along with the room keys and i was ecpected to find my own way around. SOME of the staff were lovely but on the whole i ecpected more. Outside my room flooded but when asked, i was refused a room change; i also asked for a room change twice more after we had no hot water in our perthetic shower and was again refused. The room was freezing at night and i could not figure out the heating with or without staff help, the cold was probably due to the unsecure bathroom window! Which sounded like the rain was pouring in when we had a small shower. I dont even know where to begin with the food...there was only 2 options of meat or fish and the rest was the same daily rice and chips and what was left went on a cold buffet for later, i practically lived off soup for the week.

We booked the Pinhal do sol hotel at the last minute deal for 7 nights All-In the food was good something for every one, A good selection of drinks and the staff are very friendly, the weather was not to bad for December but you need a light jacket at night. Cristina the waitress and barmaid is full of fun she works very hard and she looked after us very well. The hotel is a bit out of the way but there is a free mini bus that goes to Quarteira 3 time a day. We will be back.

Room Tip: We had a free upgrade on arrival, (nice one.)
