“Unwelcoming”

Our holiday was from the 27 August to 7th September 2013 overall the rooms were clean but the staff needs to learn customer service skills one male staff in particular very rude. We were all inclusive and the standard of meals were disgusting we saw cats climbing on to the kitchen roof then being thrown out of the kitchen window. All food is recycled so what's left will be tomorrow's pasta or soup, hair found in scrambled egg ( and the odd chip) some days there was only fish on the menu. Drinks at the bar very poor spirits watered down beer served in sherry glasses overall we wouldn't go back again if it wasn't for the weather our holiday would of been a disaster. The pool was dirty, water was cloudy you couldn't see the bottom of the pool at the deep end. If this hotel was in the UK environmental health would have a field day

Room Tip: High floors a balcony a must

We arrived and were shown to our room it had a beautiful view of the beach the room was spacious and very clean the food was competitive but always something there to eat the bar was small but hubby never waited for a drink you get what you pay for so if your looking for 5 star you have to pay 5 star money Christmas and new year 2012 we had a lovely holiday and made some lovely friends

Room Tip: Corner suites are large and sunny and the high floors great views

We got back yesterday, Our expectations were not high for this hotel - friends had been and gave us the 'low down' but apparently things had improved vastly since they were there in early June (yes, right!)
The place is quite clean considering that you hardly see any staff about, and the staff that you do see are so miserable that you get the feeling that they are doing some sort of local Portuguese Community Service for the overseas traveller!!
The food is not that bad if your into school dinners - we were half board so we didn't have the extra embarrassment of the obligatory toasted sandwich at lunchtime. We only ate in for 3 of our 7 days there, we'd give it 5 out of 10
The pool area is totally unloved - the pool water looked dirty, the tiles round the pool could do with a good scrub (this was the one area that was dirty) The sun beds are left as they were at night - no one but them neat, the covers were grubby - it might just be us being picky, and only saw some one once clean the bottom of the pool with the brush thing they use
Basically this is a YMCA for the younger traveller (we're in our 50's) with some food "chucked" in
You don't get what you pay for - its vastly over priced in my opinion and should be a 2 Star, not a 3
The location of the place is really the selling point - right on the beach
Try and avoid if you can - we spoke to some folks who arrived on the Tuesday (all in) and by Thursday they wanted to come home, but they had another 12 days to complete!!!

Room Tip: Pick Floors 8, 9 or 10 if you can - good veiws

We were looking for somewhere cheap and cheerful and Atismar ticked those boxes.
The price difference between AI and BB was pennies so it made sense to do AI as we thought we would get our money's worth from the drinks so I was disappointed when I found out that the drinks were poured from a bottle and not from tap. This might sound fussy but when you are quenching a refreshing drink and you are handed a plastic glass of 'Rola Cola' which has lost it's fizz from the moment it's poured, it's disappointing!! The beer was good, easily drinkable and mini bottles of water which were offered on AI were fine. Initially we were disappointed to find out that AI finished at 10pm but in reality with no music or entertainment and really only the beer keeping you in until 10pm the times weren't an issue.
The food was average for a basic AI offer, breakfast had the standard hot and cold options but if you were a minute past 10am you went hungry as they were extremely quick in clearing up!!
Lunch and dinner were very repetitive: soup, chips, pasta, fish and a meat dish. It it very boring and after 2 nights eating in we ate out the rest of our holiday - each day at lunch I had soup and this was pleasant enough with a bread roll.
The rooms were fine, we had a pool view and it caught the sun so if you wanted to you could sit there however there was never a day at the pool when we couldn't get a sun bed despite the hotel apparently being full! The beach was literally a minutes walk away so obviously most people prefer the beach.
As for Quarteira as a resort it's quiet. The nights we went out for dinner we went to Villa Moura as its mostly snack bars in Quarteira. It's not really touristy at all, there is a lack of entertainment pubs and those that they do have cater to the Portuguese which is fine but were 24 years old so we would have liked a few nights! Villa Moura isn't far away and worth the five euro taxi fair.
Overall if we go back to Portugal we will be booking villa Moura as its more our sort of holiday.

Room Tip: As said previously pool view catches the sun most of the day!

I have just come back from a week there and have to say the location was brilliant :) literally 100m from the beautiful beach, clean rooms. The air con is very cooling after a hot day on the beach no by the poo. The pool is a good size and nice and refreshing. The sun beds can be moved wherever you want them to and the use of the umbrellas is great. The food was okay although repeated a lot and if you do not like fish there is not much choice. The all inclusive was very useful for the drinks although do not drink the white wine as it was disgusting, the staff work really long hours but are very friendly and polite and you can ask thm nothing. The receptionist is always manned and they are there to answer questions you have and know a lot which we found. Dry helpful. The ony problem we had was our remote broke and we told the receptionist and by the time we left they still hadn't fixed it! You have to pay for the safe and get the deposit back but ey also charge €1.50 per day t use it hitch you do not get back

For a 3* star you get what you pay for and we went middle of August so knew we would have to pay extra to g in August. We ate out 3 times as thEre is so much pasta, rice and chips I can take.

Great location, great staff but the food needs to sorted out

Room Tip: We asked for a room off the ground floor and. Balcony and everything we asked for we got. Being 2 gi...

Just got back from a wonderful holiday whilst staying at the Atismar for 1 week.
I felt I absolutely had to write a review after reading some of the well quite "Mardy" reviews I have read.

Myself and a friend booked a girly holiday and were looking for nothing other than a cheap week of sunshine to get away from the misery that is the Great British Summer. We did not want to spend a lot and after paying £500 each for all inclusive we got exactly what we paid for. (mid summer holidays)

First of all the staff are very attentive and we did not have to wait long for drinks orders at meal times. The food was not Gourmet but the options did change every single day. There was always a choice of meats at meal times, but vegetarians would probably struggle to find something. The rooms were clean and towels were changed nearly every day of our stay. There was a wait for lifts at breakfast which did mean we had to use our legs and the stairs. However this did not seem unreasonable to us.

We took advantage of the all inclusive G and T's which livened up getting ready in the evening. Alas there was no entertainment, but we were more than satisfied with our own company and did actually venture out of the hotel to sight see and investigate the other bars in the area.

For a three star hotel it does exactly what it says on the tin. If your expecting to pay 3 star prices and live the luxury of 5 star then yes this probably isn't for you and its more than likely you will come back a tad mardy as is obvious in some other reviews.

However like us, if you wanted a cheap holiday without the hassel of thinking about spending money then this is an ideal option. We did venture out on one night to dine somewhere else and this was our holiday treat. But the as far as petty comments on the mood of the staff go, if your expectations are that fussy then I'd advise not to book a 3 Star hotel in the first place.

After reading some of the reviews of this hotel on trip advisor we decided to give hotel atismar a go,Myself and my partner arrived home today after a four night stay at this 'hotel'! On arrival we checked in and took the lift up to our room which broke down whilst we were in it, not the best after only being there 10 minutes, we paid £750 for 4 nights all inclusive & our expectations were reasonably low but not as low as they needed to be, the rooms were clean but very dated and needed a lot of improvements. We could not get hot water in our shower, the food was horrendous, every day was pork & chips, the staff were mardy especially the female waitresses, we ended up taking 200 euros out over the 4 days to go & eat elsewhere, no entertainment, no tea & biscuits at 5 pm, i know this seems picky but if they say its on then it should be on, day time snacks were a ham & cheese toasty & absolutely nothing else, in my past experience an all inclusive would involve some pizza & maybe a sarny ..? If u did stay in the bar it wouldn't be for long because it was full of people moaning about the hotel in one way or another (everyone that we spoke to!) we luckily rose above it & bit the bullet & went out for breakfast & tea. All this aside the views and location were great however if you are looking for a good place to stay do not stay here!

Room Tip: choose a room at different hotel!
