We stayed at this hotel all inclusive for a week from 9th march 2013. The hotel is basic but very clean. The majority of staff are brilliant, apart from the grumpy female receptionist, who sends you on a 25 minute hike to the nearest supermarket, when their is one across the road 100 yards away!
The room spotless and on the 8th floor we had afternoon sun and sea views.
Drinks average for a hotel so cheap, cost us about £21 each per day for all inclusive. Food, looks ok, is a bit repetative, but watch what you eat, nearly everyone who was their ended up with a loose tummy for a couple of days, which i think is due to the hot server not keeping the food hot or the cold server being cold enough, both out of the ark. Hotel pool was shut for maintenance, which was disappointing, small smoking terrace was our only outside space which in in the shade by about 2.00pm!

Room Tip: The higher rooms get the sun on the balconys in the afternoon and have great sea views.

I can't fault this hotel for cleanliness and the standard of the rooms was more than fine. The location isn't the best, I'd rather of stayed in albufeira or vilamoura if I went again. The pool was closed most of the time we were there but wouldn't of gone in it anyway it didnt look very well maintained. The all inc bar isn't too bad you can have as many as you like until 10pm, the choice of drinks isn't the best but you have the standard spirits wine and beer. The bar has absolutely no entertainment, not even music playing. It was the most boring place on earth. Most people looked rather bored sat in there. The food was by far the worst I have experienced in my life. The manager even admitted to us that they buy the absolute cheapest of cheap meats that they can find! We also noticed that whatever was left from the day before a service was chopped up and added to a pasta or a salad the next day! The waiting staff look like they'd rather be anywhere else than serving you, so miserable don't think I saw a single smile off any of them. One lady on reception was very friendly and helpful, she's the only good part. I would never stay here again purely because of the dead atmosphere downstairs and the low low low standard of the food.

Upon arrival to the atismar hotel we were a little early to book in so went to the bar ! They asked us to leave out bags in the office area. It was not very secure but we had our valuables on us!

The hotel beds were comfortable for myself as I like a harder mattress but as the bed wasn't a double me and my partner had to push them together and had the little issue of falling through the middle in the night !!!

Reception staff were RUBBISH! No help at all ! Good thing there is free wifi in reception and bar area only ! (NOT IN THE ROOMS) we found trip advisor very helpful in finding places

The all inclusive drinks were good ! Even tho we couldn't get a bottle if water untill 11am????

The food however was a little rubbish!! We found some lovely places to eat tho !! ( the joker, frogs pizza and the Chinese near the joker) - I feel a little cheated as we paid for the (as we called it ) SLOP

By the end of the week we noticed in the room the air conditioning was leaky and it was infested with silverfish - reception didn't understand that I meant by silverfish so I just left it as it was our last day we noticed!

All in all I won't go back here !! To the west of the beach the hotels looked a lot nicer so I will be checking these out next time

We have just returned from this hotel as all inclusive guests. This would be very disappointing for a family with young children expecting what we no of as 'all-inclusive' holidays. Having been to many places around the world, this is really NOT an all-inclusive hotel.
The hotel is very clean (room 609). Our room was very nice, with 2 balconies - front view and a beautiful view of the sea and beach at the back.
There was no hairdryer, no kettle - we always bring them anyway, but i think it would have been hell if we hadn't. Not as if you could just relax in the bar area having coffee when you like as there was absolutely nothing at all to do AT ALL in the hotel. One person behind the bar who would also be doing other things too. Most of the guests were sat using their own internet access - either via mobiles or tablets etc When the weather is bad - which is was all week for us unfortunately - there was absolutely nothing whatsoever to do! :(
Breakfast in the morning was 8am till 10am. Although breakfast was ok food wise, it made me laugh as all you could hear was the squeeking of the toaster - no atmosphere at all - there should be some sort of background music or something? only way i could sort of explain it was that it was uncomfortably quiet? Same with other meal times really :(
The food :- You wont go hungry. Fish every day really. Not loads of choice, some didn't really appeal at first glance, but i have to say, when you try it, it was always nice! :)
The staff were pleasant, not much conversation at all though from them - pleasantries is about the most - always doing something, would be nice if they spent a little more time interacting a little more with the guests - would make it feel a little more welcoming?
There are 2 lifts, VERY tiny lifts, but they always worked :)
The bar :- Was a small bar - similar to one you would probably see on one of them blackpool houses that have a bar in the living room - not much difference. The all inclusive selection was 6 bottles placed in a small section signposted of the bar area. The all-inclusive coke was undrinkable! :( like a 20p bottle of the cheapest cola in like macro or something. I had to buy a can of pepsi from the bar for 150 euros each time! As i only drink black russians, i also had to buy tia-maria from the bar for 350 euro per shot - they had no cheap alternitive to tia maria. Then, on the second day (friday) there was no tia maria for me to buy - i had only had 2 drinks - and when asked when he would get some more tia maria he just said "monday", so we went to local shop and bought some tia-maria and took some down with us when we went the bar agian, getting the vodka and ice from bar, buying a can of coke, and just added some of my own tia maria - AND WE WERE TOLD WE COULDN'T DO THAT AND HAD TO REMOVE OURSELVES FROM THE BAR TO DO IT! Couldn't believe it! Said we were losing him profits! How can we do that when he never had what i drunk? We were fully inclusive! We were willing to pay for the drink but they had none for 3days! Was a joke - we had a better time anyway in reception that night anyway, but was quite angry about that. Talking to another guest - Tina, she had a similar problem with them too - breakfast finished at 10am, and she asked for a bottle of water at 10.05am and was refused and told that the bar didn't open until 11am! So i think that they have a lot to learn in that hotel about customer service! :(
We were able to get a bus into other areas pretty cheaply. The bus station is only up the road a short walk away from the hotel. Cost us 17 euro something return for both of us to go to Alberfura? (sorry about my spelling) which is beautiful. You can get a smaller bus too, we found out the next day, more cheaply and only cost us 75cents each to Albifoura? - which would have cost us 4euro something on the other bus!
There isn't really a lot to do around the area of the hotel to be honest, whether that was because its only really the start of the season while we were there though or not i'm not sure. The beach is just beautiful, and if the sun had blessed us, then i'm sure we would have enjoyed it much more - as thats why we go abroad anyway for the sun!
I think if you are looking for a relaxing holiday, then this would suit you well. If your looking for a family holiday and have children and want all inclusive - as we no it - then THIS HOTEL IS NOT FOR YOU.
If you go bed and breakfast, or bed, breakfast evening meal, then this hotel would be much better value! But should definately NOT be classed as an all-inclusive holiday!
I hope this has helped - i have tried to be as helpful as possible :)

We arrived at the Atismar late at night early Feb 2013. We were 'greeted' by an sulky looking receptionist. She immediately told us there had been a mix up with our booking and she didn't know if there was a cot for our toddler, even though we had specified this on the booking.
The bar man (one of the few decent members of staff there) helped my husband carry a cot to the room - it was a cot for a new born baby and we sent the whole 2 weeks concerned our toddler would throw themselves over the bars!
Finally we got to the room to find the balcony doors would not lock. We went back down to reception to be asked if we could wait to change rooms until the next day. We refused, bearing in mind what happened in Portugal in 2007 and not wanting to unpack twice. The next room we were offered also did not have locking balcony doors. The 3rd room we were shown had locking doors.
The next day, after a late night, we looked forward to the first day of our holiday. We went to breakfast only to be told that there are no high chairs, just a sling type device that fits to the table, that may be ok for babies for not toddlers. We argued our case to the manager (over the phone) for 2 days and our toddler had her meals in her bugy.
The food was appalling - no choice, and as it was left standing for a long time, it was often cold. The chef there only knows how to cook about 2 different types of puddings and breakfasts.
The cleaners often forgot to leave towels and toilet roll. To cap it off, we saw a cleaner wipe our toilet and then use the same cloth, without even rinsing it, around the sink and bedside cabinets!
My husband spoke at length to the hotel manager - he was fully aware about our concerns but had not once offered an apology or explanation.
The nicest thing I can say about the hotel is that there are 3 decent members of staff there (the rest are hopeless) and the location is good. But if you have a toddler, I wouldn't bother........
