“Villa Monteleone: great bed, great breakfast, and...GREAT WINE!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2012

If you are looking for a quiet and comfortable place to get away to, where you can sample some fine Valpolicellas and Amarones, try Villa Monteleone. We spent 3 nights there in May, and had a great time tasting wines at this small family-run winery and at another just a few km away. There are some fine restaurants in the vicinity, too, which the inn's proprieter recommended to us, and they were all great for sampling local foods and more local wines. This is a fine historic villa, centrally located in the Valpolicella Classico region. The room was spacious and very clean, and the bed was comfortable, too. We stayed in the villa's suite on the groundfloor with two large wooden bathing tubs (the room also has a full shower and bathroom with ample space. The staff at Villa Monteleone was affable and helpful, and we appreciated their willingness to help us with our daily trip planning. And the breakfasts were fresh and filling. All in all, we couldn't have asked for a better place to base our four-day exploration of Verona, the Valpolicella hills, and Lake Garda.

We stayed for four nights in early May and had a great time exploring the region. It was lovely to come back to Villa Monteleone each evening and we were fortunate to be able to sit on the terrace and enjoy the setting sun over the vinyard. Learned a lot on the wine tour- do take up the offer. Our room was very clean and spacious and we slept really well- it was so quiet. Took the bus into Verona one day and that was easy to do from the bus stop at the end of the road. Breakfast was lovely- we had the dining room to ourselves and Lucia and Ben (a student from the States who was working at the Villa) were extremely helpful with ideas and tips. You simply must visit an amazing ice cream place just a few kilometres away- the best pistachio ice cream ever! Thank you Lucia for all your help and the welcome we received in your home.

Room Tip: We had the room on the first floor with twin beds and the terrace- great to sit out on a warm evenin...

We stayed for 3 nights and were allocated in the San Vito suite, with a wonderful view of the wineyard and with an own entrance. Nice and comfortable bed and a nice spa bathroom with sauna and classical wooden bathtubs.

In the evening we had the pleasure to have dinner with Lucia, a very typical italian dinner accompanied by the wines of Villa Monteleone. This part was the highlight of the trip, where we could learn about the history of the house and the wines produced there. Thank you Lucia for the hospitality, we felt cared for and welcomed in a familiary way. Your suggestions for dinner and cooking class where also very appreciated. Thanks to that, we can recreate parts of the italian touch at home, with the wines and the food brought home.

Villa Monteleone made our trip to the Amarone wine region! The villa has a sweeping view of vineyards that rise up a hill to an ancient town perched on top. The spacious rooms are impeccably clean, the staff is very friendly, and Lucia (the owner) is an absolute treat. “Charming” and “gracious” do not do her justice. We left with a warm hug and we intend to maintain contact.

As past President of the Amarone Wine Producers Association, Lucia knows everyone and is happy to arrange tastings at otherwise unavailable, unknown and hidden small wineries. She also knows food. Every restaurant she guided us to was fantastic—lose weight before you go. Also, update your GPS maps before you go. This is unquestionably the best B&B we ever stayed at!!! It should be a must-stay for other B&B owners.

We loved the Villa Monteleone ! It was just like visiting a friend in a real Italian home, which
of course, it is. Lucia Raimondi is a lovely hostess ....... she was so cordial and
helped us with directions and restaurants, calling ahead for reservations and introductions
as her Monteleone guests. She had a wonderful wine tasting for us and the story of the villa, the vineyard, and the winery is fascinating. It is a very special spot and made a perfect transition for us as we traveled from Venice to the Dolomites.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Lena room which has a gorgeous private terrace overlooking the vineyard and to the...
