This year was my 5th (or was it 6th?) year at Le Cetinelle. And I thought I was an "old" client until this year I met a family there who were spending their 12th summer there. That should speak for itself!
People often wonder why I keep going back to the same place every year but it´s hard to pass on the experience with all the vividness unless you´ve been there and seen it.
Le Cetinelle with its amazing hosts Simonetta and Luca is the place if you are looking for the true Tuscany. The 400-plus-year house with several rooms and two apartments is fantastic! Ok, it doesn´t have air-conditioning but if you keep the windows closed during daytime and open them in the night (no bugs, I promise!), it´s quite cool.
Unless you rent one of the two apartments, Simonetta and Luca will offer you delicious and very substantial by Italian terms breakfast. And if you feel like preparing light meals yourself during the course of the day, there is a well-equipped kitchen at your disposal.
Even more fantastic than all this are the numerous bigger and smaller hideaways in the graden, equipped with tables, chairs, hammocks and what not. Even though it sometimes seems that quite a number of visitor "inhabit" the house, they all seem to disappear into the garden as well as the poolside and become non-existent.
No need to mention, of course, that the poolside is THE place. I´m not sure you can find a more beautiful poolside anywhere - the roses, pear-trees, sheltered little corners and a breathtaking view as far as the eye can see (which is very far since it´s located on a hilltop) is indescribable. And even more so late in the evening when the sun goes down and Florence, 25 km away, turns on its lights.
A couple of visitors have complanied about the 4km ride on a dirt road to access Le Cetinelle. They probably haven´t realized that if they wanted a well-asphalted 4-line autobahn, they´d have to give up the scenery, the tranquility and sounds of the nature as well as vineyards and olive groves on both sides of the house.
In fact, I´m not sure I´m doing the right thing promoting Le Cetinelle on Tripadvisor since it probably means more visitors and less space for myself there :)

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool are cooler in summer

We just spent 2 weeks in Italy vacationing as a family and Le Cetinelle was our favorite! The setting is spectacular and when we arrived I knew then that I didn't want to leave. Simonetta and Luca, the owners, are so pleasant and extremely helpful with regards to restaurant recommendations, directions to other places to go see, etc. Breakfast each morning is delicious. The rooms are very nice and the atmosphere is incredibly warm and inviting! The garden areas around the home are beautiful with many places to sit and relax. They make their own wine and olive oil...both of which we thoroughly enjoyed! Our daughters loved the swimming pool and the swing near it. The views are amazing! We already can't wait to come back to Italy and when we're back in the Tuscany/Chianti area, this is exactly where we will stay again!

Very beautiful agriturismo on top of the hill.even 4 km on an unmade road is worth it.simonetta was very helpful and offered a lot of useful advice about surrounding cities.breakfast was typical italian - cheese, ham, homemade cakes, cereals, etc.definitelly try their wine,it's very good, and my discovery was honey.le cetinelle is definitely worth visiting.atmosphere was very cosy and family alike.all together, very good value and great service.

This is a beautifully restored place to stay, and Simonetta is both charming and informative.

Our room was very tastefully furnished, the bed is huge and the shower is great. There's a friendly dog, a friendly three-legged cat, and really nice outdoor seating to admire the vineyards and the pool.

The only caveat which prevents me from giving this place 5 stars is the issue of noise, which is mentioned by some other reviewers. Sound carries through the hallway on the upper floor, so late-arriving guests can wake you up (this happened to us the first night). There's nothing that can really be done about this due to the layout of the building, so I resorted to earplugs.

The drive up is not a big drama, and takes about 15 minutes to get to the centre of town.

Room Tip: If you can stay downstairs in one of the apartment style rooms, you should be able to avoid noise fr...

Just got back from a month at LeCetinelle in Greve and read with astonishment the 2 negative reviews and Simonetta's gracious response -- she gave an apartment to them for a B&B price.
Clearly this couple has not traveled extensively, especially in the hottest summer in many, many years. Electricity is mandated in Italy to a certain number of kilowat hours (we had just been in Venice and had to remember which appliance could go on with another). And if they expected an big American or English breakfast, good luck! That is simply not the Italian way -- simply a roll and coffee, half milk. Agritourismo is farm and vineyard-- grape and olive harvest, working farms as we know them in the states. No further education -- made my point. Simonetta and Luca went out of their way to help us (we lived in a lovely apartment) to have a BBQ with our friends from nearby Colognole. We could not find #4 filters and she gave us as many as we needed. The terrain is rough but what a 14th C. marvel is at the top of the hill, with the pool and grounds carefully sculpted to take in thedramatic panorama views. And there are lovely private gazebos, collections of tables and and comfortable chairs, affording as much privacy outside as one could wish. We are renting the apartment again in May, depending on how long we stay near Greve. We believe travel opens oneself up to new experiences, culture and if one is very lucky, to 2 very special hosts, Simonetta and Luca. Pat Outland, Richmond, VA USA

This is a fantastic place! Simonetta and Luca are fantastic hosts. The house is absolutely wonderful. The drive to the how was an adventure! We had a tiny car and were on gravel for a couple miles but it is totally drivable. This is a great place to come and relax. It's so quiet and beautiful. The house is on several acres of land with grape and olive fields as well as a pool and several outdoor seating places. We had dinner outside one night and were met with the owner's dog and cat. :) Great place that I would highly recommend for couples, families or friends.

A beautiful location, a true "get away from it all" paradise...........yes, it is 4 km up a dirt track, but it was worth it for the views and tranquility..............

Simonetta was very helpful in supplying details for the local bus services to Florence, and the surrounding area, and Lucca helped us with our luggage, and kept the grounds spotless.

Thank you both for a wonderful start to our touring holiday.
