Owner description: Enoteca Falorni is the largest enoteca in Tuscany featuring over 1,000 selected wines with more than 100 wines available for tasting, using the innovative enomatic(R) system. The Enoteca is located underground in the historical centre of Greve in Chianti on the site of the first large wine cellar founded by noble land owners of the area (considered the authentic fore bearers of the Chianti Classico consortium). The historical structure has ample spaces with arched brick ceilings, corridors and smaller rooms (originally used as grape storage areas) and tells the story of its long history as a wine cellar that for years represented the economic heart of Greve in Chianti, boasting a line of illustrious owners. Constructed in 1893 by Ernesto Leproni, the location was used as cellars by the Union of Chianti Classico producers in 1906 and subsequently purchased in 1913 by Count Emanuele Mirafiori d'Alba, until being sold to the Gancia di Canelli brothers in 1932. In the 1960's and 1970's the site belonged to the Italo-American dei Paterno family and was left in an abandoned state in 1975. In 1999 the premises were purchased by the Bencista Falorni family and were transformed into the present day Enoteca Falorni, with the aim to promote and give valour to Chianti Classico wines. Its elegance and the presence of more than 1,000 principally Tuscan wines with others from further Italian regions as well as sparkling wines, dessert wines, grappa and olive oil render the Enoteca Falorni an authentic "temple to wine".

This is a must for wine lovers if you are in the region. Charge a credit card with euros, pick up a glass and then spend an hour or so trying different wines from the area. It has it all from whites, chianti's, super tuscans, dolci, grappa - lots of fun if with a group of friends. If you try something you like then you will be able to buy a bottle to take away.

This was an interesting place to visit and taste a number of different wines in one location. The shop is located just off the main road in Greve and down a flight of stone steps so you feel like you're entering a wine cave. Then the place opens up to a massive wine shop with lots of tables and chairs and lots and lots of wine.

You buy a card at the counter and get a book with all the different wine regions and some information on the wines, which was really nice as we had no plans to try and taste everything! They also provide a pencil and paper so you can make notes on your tastings. We were two couples and had a really fun time, trying different wines and then ranking them among ourselves - it was interesting to see how our individual tastes differed and really funny for us to realize that none of us really cared too much for Chianti! Our only complaint is that the staff weren't all that friendly and didn't seem very open to questions or inquiries - an open smile and friendly greeting would be an improvement.

If you like wine and want to just relax and enjoy an afternoon, this is a good spot to do it.

This wine tasting shop is great! You prepay for a set amount on a card, and then go around to the dispensers of wine with different prices and pay for your taste. The wine is all Tuscan, but separated out by region and variety. Prices range from approx .60 euro to 6 euro per taste. I was able to find some great wines that I will purchase again. I probably would have stayed here longer and tasted modem but the wine was getting to me and the snacks they had to purchase were all old. They should put some fresh snacks out more often. Would stop here again!

With the abundance of choice in olive oils it is great to be able to taste them before buying. Le Cantine is a great place to do so because you can taste at least 12 different olive oils. It is a great shop anyway because they sell a great amount of wine and other things like balsamic vinegar and truffle oil.

This is the only place you need to go for all your wine shopping in Tuscany. Prices are good, and you can taste a lot of wine here. Fantastic selection.
