We took a tour of the castle and it was really fun to get to experience the history of the grounds. We tasted the wine and balsamic vinegar which was amazing! We would recommend this stop for true chianti classico.

We came to Castello di Verrazzano for the first time in 2016, on the recommendation from our son who went in 2015. Once we knew we were coming back to Florence this year, we knew we had to make time for a second visit. Both times, it was a highlight of our trip! The second time we did an official tour and tasting. Our guide was very informative and as always, the winery was superb! In fact, we are having some right now because we had a half case shipped to us! We can't wait to go back!
We visited Castello di Verrazzano along with several smaller wineries and we enjoyed how different and unique each of them were. Castello di Verrazzano was the biggest operation we visited and upon arriving, were awestruck by the glorious views and how grand it all was. The grounds are gorgeous, the views of the valley below are breathtaking and the tour was really informational and interesting. We also appreciated that the groups weren't huge--probably not more than 15 total--that really allowed us to hear what the guide was saying and see what he was showing us.
As amazing as all that was, we also really enjoyed the tasting. I'm not much of a chianti drinker, so I can't comment on the wine as much, but the olive oil was very good and the balsamic was probably the best I've ever had--so much so that we paid to ship it home.
All in all, it was a perfect start to our winery tour of Tuscany and I'd highly recommend it!
We toured the winery which was followed by a very nice dinner. The setting in Tuscany is just beautiful and the views are stunning. I learned that this is not my college Chianti when we used to use the basket covered bottles as drippy candle holders. They have upgraded the barrels using different wood so now the wine is a much better quality. The dinner was lovely with 3 kinds of wine and included homemade pasta which was outstanding. There was a lot of food and it was all good. I could envision myself spending long, relaxing days here enjoying the grounds and views. I would definitely recommend Castello do Verrazano.
I would highly recommend Castello di Verrazzano. The winery offers breathtaking views of the Tuscan hills. We made a reservation for a wine tour which was fantastic- the guide was extremely engaging and knowledgeable. The tour included a history of the winery, wine, Chianti, as well as the region....and of course, a tasting. Their wines were phenomenal and I really felt the employees were generally proud of what they were serving us!
Absolutely beautiful stunning historic winery in a castle high above hills of Greve Chianti region. We booked a private tour and wine tasting online easily 1 week prior. The staff was warm, very hospitable and knowledgeable/ passionate about their wineries history and we had a wonderful 1 hour tour of this beautiful castle with breathtaking views of Tuscany hills and vineyards.
Mateo was our private guide 11am and he was great, knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the complex amd intricate processes behind DOCG Chianti requirements and standards for their wine and in general for all local Chianti vineyards.
He was patient and very kind and what i liked about this winery castle is their history and passion for producing great chianti and chianti Riserva.
In regards to wine tasting, we enjoyed all the 4 varieties surprisingly even the Rose wine which i tend not to like. We ordered 12 bottles to be shipped Florida and USA shipping cost vas very very reasonable compared to other vineyards we visited.
I chose not to do a “large group bus tour chianti tasting tour” bc i wanted to individually choose which vineyards to visit esp those w history and hospitality and i could not be any with the choice of Castello Di Verrazzano.
Highly recommend visiting this beautiful estate and enjoy your time there (recommend 2 hours minimum and Recommend u email them 2 weeks (if u can) ahead to get rsvp ahead of time for private cellar tour and 4 wine tasting which is much better and well worth the price.
