Owner description: Visitors to this romantic estate have agreed the trip was well worth it: the family is warm and hospitable, the grounds are ruggedly romantic and the wines are impressive.

We actually didn't do the tour, we just took in the views, the castle, the grounds, ate a most impressive lunch and drank lots of the Classico and topped it off with a taste of the Grappa. I was especially a fan of their wine, and the Olive Oil. I'd say this is definitely worth putting on your itinerary when visiting Florence/ Chianti region.

This was a great wine tasting with an interesting tour and history of grounds. We did 3 pm tour which included tour, tasting of 3 wines, basalmic vinegar with piece of cheese and olive oil with bread. Price was good for tasting and there are amazing views. I don't recommend walking however from the bus stop in Grita. We were told it was only 1 km but it is a very challenging uphill hike of 30 min.

We chose the 11am tour with a light lunch included. The tour group was fairly large, and the tour guide would start talking before everyone was caught up. The first little bit we missed because we were at the back of the group, but once we figured it out, we stayed at the front the entire time and were able to hear everything. The "light lunch" turned into a full platter of antipasto and 5 glasses of wine.

Overall very good, but small changes could make it much better.

We had a tremendous time at Castello do Verrazzano! I just love the methodology of the estate, no chemicals, they not only make a great vino but also a lovely olive oil from their groves, and a balsamic that is heavenly with the local cheese. The prosciutto and salami are form the wild boar that are free to roam around part of the estate before ending up curing within the stone walls of the castle.
Highly recommend it, and go for the full lunch as is it not only a lot of fun but the wines are wonderful with each course and the food is simply delicious... Enjoy- we did!

We toured Castello di Verrazzano in April 2013. Jillian, our tour guide, was personable and friendly. The tour was informative and beautiful. The owner and his wife were strolling around the grounds, and it was fun to meet them. I believe we had 9 people on our tour. Jillian answered all of our questions. The wine was great! Don't forget to ask for a taste of their "special" balsamic vinegar ... so sweet you can eat in on ice cream.
