We experienced Villa Bordoni's fine cuisine twice. The first time was an impromptu visit after a long and hot walk in the Chianti hills. We were treated graciously and with a warm welcome by the owner in spite of our dishevelled appearance from our walk. She even took the time to show us the layout of the hotel and a guest room and the common room. As a designer and my husband being an architect it was lovely to see such taste and refinement in the decor. The lunch was exquisitely presented and fabulously good! The outdoor terrace was like being in a dream, gorgeous gardens and great setting. We returned for a Birthday dinner in the evening a few days later... it was outstanding, the staff were very attentive and they went out of their way to create a lovely desert for me as well. I have always wanted to be in Italy for my birthday and the experience at Villa Bordoni made it a dream come true! This was by far the very best food we experienced during our entire 3 week September stay in Italy. We would return to Villa Bordoni without hesitation.

We ate here two nights while staying at the Villa Bordoni. The food was amazing. The first night we actually took a cooking class with the head chef, Colin. That was the highlight of our trip to Italy.

Cooking class. The cooking class had 7 people total. My wife and I and 5 other people. The whole group was really fun. We were in the kitchen and got hands on preparing a full five course meal. Starting with foccacia, then stuffed artichokes, then fresh pasta from scratch, then ossobusco (veal), and finally a tiramisu. Colin was very patient -- showed us all the techniques (which he kept simple so we could actually do them at home). And best of all he let us be very hands on. We marinated the veal, kneaded the pasta, pressed it through the machine, rolled it through the "quitara" to cut out the spaghetti, and more. It was truly awesome.

The whole thing took about four hours and then we drank a whole bunch of bottle of Chianti and white wine while having our fresh foccacia. After about an hour of that, we started into the meal which was amazing. The best meals we had in Italy so far. Tender veal, flavorful artichoke, really light and soft tiramisu. I mean, every dish was great. And the service to boot.

The second night we ordered off the regular menu. We got some friend zucchini flowers to start, I had some braised duck breast, and my wife had ravioli -- all awesome again. And the price actually was very reasonable for having a "captive" customer base in the middle of nowhere Tuscany. Very fair.

Hugo was our server and he was really friendly and helpful. In fact, everyone that works in that kitchen is really friendly and helpful. It's just a happy place. If you want to go see the Tuscan countryside go stay at Villa Bordoni and eat there (and take the cooking class). It will be the highlight of your trip.

We ended up eating at the Villa Bordoni Restaurant each night of our 4 night stay. We ate in the restaurant twice, one we got room service after returning from a long day in Siena, and took the cooking class one afternoon, ending in dinner at the restaurant. Hugo, the maitre'd, and the other staff provided excellent service and are very knowledgeable about all of the food and wine. I wish I could have eaten everything on the menu!

having stayed in Villa Bordoni, we are always skeptical on hotel restraunts - nevery much of a big fan.

Villa Bordoni definitely break that tradition!

We had lunch once and dinner twice and all the times food was great..

For lunch we have a Caprese Salad and Cheese Platter - both were great but the red pepper chutney with the cheese was great.

for Dinner we had the Crispy Duck, Pesto Gnocci, Florentine Steak, various Pastas.. all the time the food was fresh and extremely tasty.

The aubergine pie with mozarella is also a must try...

To make things perfect their almond ice cream desert was amazing.

Overal great food with even better service especially from Hugo who was always a pleasure to talk to.
