This restaurant was recommended to us by regular visitors to the area, and we were delighted with our visit- great views from the terrace and wonderful food and drink.

“Delicious Food & Happy Italian Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2012

We dined here twice in 2 days in July, 2012, and it was not nearly enough. The first time, Francesca, our B & B hostess, suggested we try it. She said it would not be too busy because it was a Sunday. She was wrong! In almost Hollywood fashion the manager was instantly my new best friend. Anyone watching would have thought we were school chums. He explained that they were completely full but he had one table that he had saved outside and we could have it. I doubt he actually said he saved it "just for us" but it sure felt that way. The food was wonderful. Our waiter Matt (my other new best friend) suggested a medium priced Chianti Clasico (Lamole et Lamole) and it was delicious. We were back as soon as we could a few days later. Matt wasn't working but we met his sister! We highly recommend this restaurant. The food is local, regional and excellent. Both times we visited, the restaurant was full of Italians, not tourists. If you go at sunset be sure to sit outside where you can see the vineyards stretch on for miles.

“Over priced restaurant and wine tasting that you pay”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2012

We passed by at the restaurant on a wine tour through the Chianti region. We had already stopped by several wine yards to taste and buy wines. When I saw on the sign of the restaurant that you can try wines and eat, I thought that's the best mix. As I was driving I only wanted to taste the wines not drink. Food was good, staff was polite but not very attentive. As I speak some Italian I heard how the owner was pushing the staff to offer additional food for tasting like Jam, truffel honey, cheese, dessert wine. This totally ruined the whole ambience as we got continuously interrupted. It felt more like a sales show than a nice dinner. The wines were of poor quality and you can get much better and cheaper in the region. From the 4 half glasses that I got I directly gave back 3 after trying, only 1 glass I finished and later bought a bottle. Biggest suprise was at the end when the owner wanted to charge 17 € for the wine tasting. This is audacious! Even when ordering 4 half glasses (2 full glasses) in a restaurant you would rarely pay more than 15 €. But normally wine tasting is for free no matter if you later buy wine or not. We bought wine, oil and jam for 30 € but still the owner complained that I only bought only 1 bottle of wine. This was the only evening during our 2 week tour in Toscany when we were not happy. Other Trattoria or Osteria in the region are much better regarding the price/service ratio.

“Quaint, Friendly and Delicious”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2012

Forget those little negative comments from others, we were there for a few times over the last couple of days and the service is immaculate everytime.

As this is a restaurant and also an enoteca, I would try to provide you both experiences - As a restaurant, it has a perfect view of Chianti and though it's a short drive from Greve in Chianti, its definitely worth it just for the view.

In terms of the team, one of the owner is always at hand to help out any customers who need to understand the food or drinks better, while the team of wait staffs are friendly to everyone - chatting on food, drinks or even sight-see around the area. If there's one place that made travellers felt at home, its definitely this restaurant. I cannot imagine how many times they try to give us Limoncello and then sweet wine to finish our night while we're already tipsy from the perfect Lamole Chianti Classico ...

Ordering is easy as the wait-staff would speak in perfect English explaining today's special and what they would recommend to go along with your food. As a starter, the warm red onion pudding with fresh truffles is really good. We tried many pasta and their special pasta of pork with roast vegetables was so homely. The steak Florentine is excellent choice if you're real hungry as it comes in about 1.0 - 1.2kg.

Then on the enoteca side, we happen to visit the place once when the kitchen was closed and they offer to make a platter of meat and cheese for us. It's probably one of the best platter we had tried - the pecorina cheese, three different types of hams and artichokes was just perfect - not yet, they also concoct their own honey with truffles which I believe is truly heaven. We bought a few from them to bring home for our friends too.

Overall, this is a great place that you must try if you're in the area and you'll be surprised by the friendliness of the team there.

“Best Restaurant in Chianti”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2012

A definite stop for anyone enjoying the Chianti region! The food is exquisite and the view is even better. Make wure you call ahead and make reservations to get a patio seat to maximize the experience. The restaurant also makes their own wine, olive oil and balsamic vinegar that are fabulous and worth purchasing. If you like full-bodied wines the Lamole Chianti Classico Riserva is hard to beat.
