“Lovely boutique hotel (Italian standard)”

I will start by saying that the location of this hotel is quite a surprise when you arrive as it is not in the center of Sciacca. However, when you will have seen Sciacca, it will no longer be an issue... ;)

The Villa was renovated by a family who has done a fantastic job. Rooms are spacious, clean and most of them have a view on the hills and the pool.
It has been in business for only a year and you can actually sense that everything is new and not always logistically appropriate (the main building is were you will find the restaurant/breakfast area as well as a computer room but, you will have to ask the front desk to switch lights on should you wish to stay there after dinner or have a tea).

They are not yet organized when it comes to small details but, wifi is complimentary which is a big plus and, the family members who run the Villa are very friendly and love to talk about how they decided to renovate their grand mother's property!
Lovely stories!

Pool is great and surrounded by peace and quiet. Make sure they give you mosquito tablets for your room as they are quite present!

This hotel is in its first season of operation and is still ironing out some of the wrinkles. Having said that, we had a very good stay there. We stayed in the junior suite on the top floor of the main building. The suite had a very good terrace with a distant view of the sea and excellent views of the sunset. It is comfortably furnished and has a separate room with desk and chaise longue for using internet, having a snooze, or whatever you fancy. Storage space for clothes was very good. As another reviewer has mentioned previously, the bathroom is rather small. It is well-furnished, tidy and clean but you couldn't swing many cats in there. Perfectly adequate but not luxurious, I would say.

The communal areas of the hotel - sitting rooms, dining room, pool area, etc. are absolutely fine and kept spotlessly clean. Breakfast offered the normal selection one would expect in Italy - juices, fruits, meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, etc. and was to a good standard. Excellent coffee! We dined in the hotel for two of the five nights we were there. A little overpriced for what we got, I thought, and could have been a mite more adventurous.

The strength of the hotel was the staff - in reception and in the dining area. They were unversally helpful and charming - that made, as it always does, a big difference. All in all a very good stay. No, it's not perfect - there are some faults - but we had a good time.

We only stayed here one night and that was enough. The hotel is situated behind a Lidl supermarket and partly overlooked by a block of flats with a driveway bordered by weeds and wasteland. We had booked a junior suite but were shown to a classic room which we only slightly preferred as there were less steps. The room was dark with cheap antique type furniture but most annoyingly they turned off the air conditioning at 3am whilst we were asleep ( which we phoned and complained about ) and again at 9.30am presumably to save money !! We went for breakfast at 9.15am which was obviously an inconvenience to them as they were waiting to clear up. Breakfast itself was very poor - we had to ask for milk for the cereals as the " waitress " was on the phone, the decaffeinated coffee was from a packet, the preserves were in opened jars, some with scruffy hand written labels, all this whilst we were watched by a member of staff who was waiting to clear away. All in all this hotel seems to be struggling on minimum staffing and only in it for the money. If you are staying in Sciacci go to V.Emanuele Bed & Breakfast in the town, it less expensive and far superior.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere.

How lucky we felt to have stayed here... The entire hotel is beautifully decorated, immaculately clean, expert and helpful staff.... one of the staff even lead us by car to his favorite gelato shop... This hotel is magnificent and not expensive for what you get... breakfast was fresh, with lots of choices and all excellent... The owner goes out of her way to provide you with all that you could want...and located right off the highway

Don't miss staying here... in fact, stay here rather than at Villa Athena in Agrigento

Room Tip: Stay here instead of Villa Athena in Agrigento... it is about a 45 minutes ride away from Agrigento

Hotel Villa Calandrino was one of the guest houses we chose to stay on our 2 week round trip of Sicily

Sidenote: After traveling across Sicily, i would not stop in Sciacca again. Not because it was not nice but i'd just stop earlier, like Mazaro de Vallo or some where in the gorgious inland.

Overall: having selected Sciacca to break the trip between Trapani and Agrigento in half, we had difficulties finding a hotel or B&B. So a bit paniced we booked the 135 Euro expensive suite, as it was the last room available in this Hotel and we simply coudnt find anything else, that looked halfway ok. If i would do the trip again, i would save myself the money and stay another night at the hotel i stayed in Ragusa (see my other reviews) where i paid the same price, but got a lot more than i paid for...

The room: for the price you would expect something big, and so it was. High ceilings, own balcony (with cheap furniture), a seperate study, which looked nice but wouldnt be used anyway, except to put our luggage in. The decoration was well done, giving a the room a baronial touch. Needless to say that everything was nice and clean.

the bed: was huge and comfortable.

the bathroom: while the room was huge, the bathroom was tiny in comparison. And also tiny in any other comparison. For a suite it was just too small. For the price you are paying, you should definitly be getting something more luxurious.

the breakfast: the selection was big, the coffee good and the view nice over a small valley

the location: its situated behind the Lidl (or was it Aldi) and was difficult to find if you missed the sign and/or following google maps indication.

Stayed for four nights. Very peaceful, relaxing and quiet all around. Changed room to one with outdoor terrace, much better. Pool area very clean. Dead quiet this time of year. Staff helpful and friendly. Close to Sciacca port so plenty of eateries close by.

Room Tip: Rooms with terrace add more space as rooms a bit on the small side.

So stayed here for 2 nights with my boyfriend on our first holiday together end of April. We were on a driving holiday so found it easily and there was a lot of parking. The approach to the Villa is nice and this is the way it is advertised online. When we arrived I was disappointed with the room we were given as it was in a separate complex around the side which was not very attractive. Entering the room from a veranda door I noticed that that was the only glass window area and that there were 2 single beds. The private patio also had zero furniture. I went to reception to complain as I did not like that we didn't have a window and on a romantic holiday was not keen on a twin room. They claimed to be full. There were a lot of keys in the background, the 2 nights we were there the car park was mostly empty and no one was really by the pool other than myself and boyfriend. I struggle to believe they were really that full. The owner/manager was quite direct in telling me they could not help. On check out we were also charged for using the mini-bar which we did not use. Please check all receipts fully, I complained and my cash was promptly refunded.
On a positive the things we liked: large pool and many sunloungers, beautiful grand breakfast room, lovely helpful breakfast staff and nice food. The actual room we had was well furnished and the interior was decorated to a tasteful and high standard.
I didn't like the attitude of the management.

Room Tip: Ensure you call ahead and request a double bed room if this is what you would like.
