We came across the Osteria by chance and were wowed by the superb, fresh and delicious local food. It was busy with Italians, always a good recommendation- and as it got busier grandma arrived to give a hand in the kitchen.
There's no menu. The owner, who speaks good English, gave us a choice of a mix of starters (superb: fresh anchovies, caponata, frittatta omelette with courgette, grilled aubergine stuffed with salmon, followed by battered baby cod). Among the choices of pasta were spaghetti with clams or pasta with fresh prawns in a delicious garlic and chilli sauce. We had a big glass of wine each and water, all for 45 Euros.

I visited here with my wife and 1 year old son for lunch. There was a choice of fish, meat or veg, no menu as such just great local food recommended by the owner. The seafood pasta was the best dish we tasted in sicily. All in all the bill came to 40 euros for starters, pasta, bread water and cover. Thoroughly recommended for a taste of typical local sicilian food.

Totally local and fresh fish oriented. No menu - the owner, maitre d just tells you what's available. Simple, original cooking, great value, a rich experience. Best meals we found in Sicily. Be prepared to wait if it's busy. Relax and enjoy.

we ordered pasta for ten euro- we received a very small portion, the pasta did not taste like fresh pasta, and the meal was tasteless. we had to ask for cheese- received very portion of grated cheese. the antipasti (10 euros) included a tasteless veg pie (left overs?) some quite tasty sardines etc. although there was only one other couple in the restaurant, the waiter forgot to bring bread for the antipasti. we ordered wine - we had much better house wines in other restaurants. we were sorry we didn't just buy take a Pizza in the street.

this is a very typical sicilian restaurant. they cook what is fresh that day from the sea or vegetables. there is not an ongoing unlimited menu to choose from, so if you are looking for some old favorites they may not have if it look good at the market

two brothers and their mother run the place. they cook very good food and the place is very cozy
