We couldn't believe how small the rooms are here. Our room was a double on the fourth floor with a door out on to the roof so we had a great view. But the room was made for elves! Everything was very basic but functional though we were without hot water one morning. Breakfast was OK but the coffee was fantastic.

The staff are very friendly & helpful saving us parking spaces and giving free wifi. But be careful when ordering gin - the gin serving was considerably larger than the rooms!

The hotel has a good central location which is it's real selling point (apart from the gin....)

Set in the central square and with views across the town the hotel is in a great location. Our room had a balcony and so this made up for the size of the room which for 2 friends sharing was small but clean. The breakfast was adequate but limited in choice. For me and my companion the evening meal was overall disappointing and there was no choice at all. To be served tinned fruit for desert when the area has wonderful fresh fruit on offer was surprising and the salad buffet was meagre. The pasta dishes lacked flavour. As we were with a touring group the meals were a part of the package. There was some tasty food served but the overall inpression was poor. Despite the negatives I would still stay at this hotel again if I revisited the region as the staff were friendly and the location ideal. We compensated for the disappointing food with a few lunches in restaurants and walked them off in the afternoon. The region is very pretty with many interesting towns to visit.

We stayed here for a week in late September, with a Ramblers group and were very well looked after by the friendly hotel staff. The rooms were clean, well furnished with good air conditioning which was very welcome as we experienced unusually hot weather. There was not much space for our bags but otherwise the room was fine.
The real plus for this hotel is its location, right next to the main square and only minutes away from the famous Trulli areas. To add to our enjoyment we were there during the major religious festival which saw the town lit by spectacular lighting throughout, with stalls selling everything from nuts and olives to shoes, bags and jewellery. There were processions, brass band concerts and a very good modern group followed by a massive firework display on the last of the 3 nights of entertainment. However, Alberobello does seem to become a bit of a ghost town immediately after the festival with a number of restaurants and bars closing down for a week for their well earned holiday and the streets losing their decorations, stalls and the crowds.

Room Tip: Better views from the rooms on the higher floors

Like so many reviewers of this hotel, we were part of a Walking Group, although we had stayed here independently 10 years or so ago. This is a typical Southern Italian commercial hotel; by accommodating tour groups it now has a more assured revenue. All the staff are friendly and the hotel is clean throughout. Rooms are small with very limited storage and maybe a little old fashioned, but most bathrooms seem to have been refitted to a high standard. Food was difficult to judge as we were on a set menu but what we were offered was fine. If you didn't like something listed, provided you warned the kitchen, they would happily provide something different. They managed our Group's vegetarian needs well. WiFi worked although it is at an hourly rate. There is an outdoor freebie WiFi if you ask the Caribinieri! This is an excellent location with plenty of bars, restaurants nearby and less than 10 mins from the station (FSE line).

Room Tip: Watch out - the loo seats are very mobile and can fall off; if you really need a hairdryer, take you...

We stayed here for a week as part of a party of 20. Our room was small but comfortable(others are larger) just the luck of the draw, On Saturday night, because our room partly overlooked the main town square we experienced noise for much of the night. Others nights were quiet. Overall the food was good, there's a reasonable choice for breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful, one evening sending a car to Martina Franca to pick up a couple who had missed their train connection.

The Lanzillotta's biggest advantage is it's location, just off the main square and a short walk form the sights of Alberobello, a charming town of trulli houses, churches, museums, shops and restaurants. A family run hotel with friendly staff who were always keen to ensure that our stay was comfortable and accommodated our requests. English is spoken too which is a help! I'm surprised that other reviews have mentioned that the hotel has been recently refurbished as there wasn't much evidence of this. Rooms are traditional, small and at best functional, but if you are staying in an area as beautiful as Puglia, there is no need to spend a lot of time in the hotel! Breakfasts are adequate, with good coffee, and the food at dinner was interesting - the hotel specialises in food of the region which tends to be simple but well flavoured. The house red at €10 a bottle was very drinkable. All in all a very good option as a base for visiting the area.

The staff and central location made it a perfect place to use as our base for touring the region. They always made room for our rental car, helped us find nearby laundry services, internet, and market. We had not planned on dining in their restaurant, but when one day ended up being very long they served us dinner at the last minute as the kitchen was closing.
