My mother and I visited in October. The town of Alberobello is lovely and an amazing site I totally agree with other comments, the rows and rows of this little dwellings is a site to see on a beautiful bright sunny day. Its amazing to think they were built by hand a few hundred years ago. They are definitely worth a visit. We booked for 5 nights but we found there wasnt enough to keep us occupied for the full 5 days, luckily we had a car and could travel down to Lecce and Taranto etc.

My mother said she felt slightly enclosed staying in one as there was only one small windo in the bathroom. But generally we had a lovely stay and the people of the town were friendly and welcoming.

It's kind of an out of this world experience: The otherwise insignificant town of Alberobello sports the most fairy tale sight I've ever seen in Europe - the trulli, a sort of ancient stone dwelling with pointy roofs equally of stacked rocks, no mortar used. The is a whole hillside is covered in them, they nestle on the hilltop close to one another, they are behind the church, and the adjacent Valle d'Ittria is full of them, too. Most of them are only one storey and seem to duck into the landscape hence the association of hobbit houses.

A unique place, definitely worth the trip

We visited Alberobello on a shore excursion when doing a mediterian cruise in September. The Trulli village was an interesting place to visit with the houses all having cone shaped roof's. A place you must visit to see these unique and interesting homes.

It's so fun to visit a place that is this unique. I could not stop taking pictures. At night it takes on a different look. Very cool. Very picturesque. However, also very touristy, so be prepared.

Yes, it's easy to accuse Alberobello of being a bit Disney but much of the town is a living community. The area given over to shops selling fridge magnets is a little too perfect but, overall, the town retains its charm. We found the people to be genuine, friendly and helpful. The 'trulli' are unique, attractive and worthy of seeing.
