“Unmissable experience in the trulli”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2014

We stayed only one night with some friends: we occupied three trulli, two for double occupancy and one was a mini-trullo for single occupancy. One can probably hardly do better to taste the experience of living in a trullo: Trulli Holiday owns or manages a number of trulli in the more pictoresques parts of the town; we had our trulli relatively close to each other in the less touristy and much nicer of the two main trulli districts. The trulli were quite spacious except the smaller trullo, which was still larger than the average European hotel room and looked, on the other hand, a very romantic setting. The other trulli were more of the size of hotel suites with kitchen. Pellet heating worked like a charm and, despite some anticipated and totally unjustified worries about trulli's comfort, our stay was perfect and we regretted spending only one night there. The prices were not very low, but, again, should be compared with suites in hotels and should take into account the totally peculiar location; the impression while booking is that one cannot get much lower for the same offering. Breakfast was served close to the offices of Trulli Holiday and was among the best we had in our trip in Puglia. Service was extremely nice. No WiFi in the trulli, of course, and actually also some difficulty even with 3G--perhaps the thick walls.... Great experience.

They manage a number of private 'trullo's' in the town of Alberobello. The town is bisected by a minor road through its centre, the two halves sloping upwards and facing each other. One side is the 'lived-in' part with main square, church and regular shops. The opposite side is more geared to tourism and in very well maintained condition.

We stayed in the non-touristy side in a nice, bijou, trullo. The property was sufficiently equipped for modest self-catering, with comfortable beds and decent bathroom. We much enjoyed waking and looking up at the stone ceiling of the cone shaped trullo. Breakfast was included, served at Trulli Holiday's restaurant adjacent to their offices in the town centre. A short walk through the main square for a very good buffet breakfast.

The guys at Trulli Holiday are very customer focussed and were helpful beyond the call of duty (Francesco gets a special mention in this regard...grazie mille!!).

Alberobello is unique and worthy of visiting. Staying in a trullo makes the visit so much more meaningful and Trulli Holidays ensures the experience is memorable for all the right reasons.

Best restaurant we found: Pinnacolo in Monte Nero

Great ices at a small gelateria in the main square.

We spent four nights in our one-room trullo and loved the unique experience. Alberobello is an excellent base from which to explore (by car) the neighboring towns in Puglia -- it's a charming and friendly walking town with a variety of excellent restaurants and shops. The hundreds of ancient trulli that dominate the landscape make Alberobello a rich cultural experience. Francesco is the perfect host at Trulli Holiday -- welcoming, knowledgeable, and always available to answer questions and offer suggestions. Our room was modern and clean, historically authentic yet comfortable for the 21st century traveler.

We stayed at one of these magical trulli, it was such a beautiful experience made even better by the cleanliness and comfort the owners put into the place. I would recommend trulli holidays to everyone.

A last minute booking to spend one night in a magical Trulli was a highlight of our trip to Italy. Our tiny studio Trulli was comfortable and had modern, clean fixtures. It was located in the older part of town where multiple trulli are located and permanently inhabited. The narrow byway would not permit drive up access so we had to park a short distance away and pull our bags. Lots of tour groups strolled by so in the future I would probably request a Trulli off the beaten track. The rentals are spread around the town and not clustered together like a resort so be prepared to be independent. The owners were extremely hospitable and helpful. A nice breakfast buffet at a local restaurant was included in the price. We'll definitely return for a longer visit.

We stayed in our own trullo for two nights as part of a drive around Puglia. Alberobello is a great little town with ample restaurants, sights to see, etc. Nicely located within a short drive of Matera, Ostuni, etc. When we were there, a festival associated with the beautiful church was on and the village was magically transformed with lights, parades, and people from the area. The trullo itself was clean, plenty large enough, and centrally located in the part of the town that is less commercial and tricked up. The staff were great and extremely helpful. No need to worry about anything, including great directions to Matera. However, parking in Alberobello is a bit limited. Don't expect to park anywhere near your own trullo. Unless, by luck, you stumble on a visitor permitted parking spot near your little home, like we luckily did for one night. remember that you are located on a functioning walkway and street so road noise is there and people do chatter as they stroll past. We didn't mind though.
Highly recommend it as part of a Puglian trip!

Room Tip: Ask for Number 23 - it's really a larger one and nicely located.

We have choosen the location a bit out of downtown, but we had the advantage of the swimming pool and countryside-like feeling. Absolutely amazing, the invesment for transforming the trulli into 4 star hotel facilities was a bright and unique idea, congrats. The grounds are best cared for, everything spot perfect. The guys from the agency downtown are amazing, friendly, informative, welcoming, genuinly interested in the quality of your stay. Fantastic, congratulations! Internet working great from the rooms, free of charge. Breakfast more like a tasting experience rather then just filling your stomach for the whole day. The accommodation grounds were one of the few places where everyway you turn and take a photo, you can make a postcard out of it, seriously. Do not hesitate, it is really a good choice. And also try Tipicamente, the guys will explain you what it is :) we had a good time
