My extended family, including my husband, 2 kids, uncle and aunt, their grown up kids and grandchildren, my parents - all found this place fantastic. The location is perfect, quiet, close to everything, shops, beach, bike rental, restaurants. The rooms and apartments are spotless, comfortable, adequately supplied with all you will need. The hosts (Elisa and Chiara and their parents) are very welcoming, friendly and always ready to help. We will go again for sure.

This will be another deserved rave review for A Durmi, a truly memorable and friendly place with excellent service. Chiara is everything you want in a host, friendly, charming, helpful and knowledgable. Our first delight followed her tip to simply unpack, relax, go for a bike ride - such a lovely introduction to Levanto, and a enjoying a drink en route at a beachside bar is a memory not soon forgotten. The apartments are close to the rail station and the wonders of the Cinque Terre, comfortably furnished, ours with a lovely little balcony, and shared outdoor space to relax and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. Levanto is an ideal base with excellent local restaurants, and maps and top tips from Chiara provided for the best walking experiences. We only stayed three nights and wish it was longer.

The family that owns The A Durmi guest house are wonderful and the owners, sisters Elisa and Chiara and their mom go out of their way to make you feel welcome and like family . They are very knowledgeable about the Cinque Terre area and help you plan your activities. There recommendations for restaurants were great too. The guest house is beautiful with a great courtyard. The Levanto location is great for exploring the Cinque Terre.

A Durmi is a terrific spot to stay. I was there in early September with two friends and we stayed in a second floor apartment which was roomy, quite clean and very well equipped. Levanto proved to be a good base to explore the area as it was less crowded and "touristy" than some other areas of the Cinque Terre. However, the best part of staying at A Durmi was the wonderful hospitality on the part of the entire family. They were incredibly friendly and helpful when it came to planning our three days in the area. You won't be disappointed staying here!

I can't say enough good things about this place and its owners! Elisa & Chiara, the daughters, treated us like family. Chiara had a great plan for us each day ("Don't worry, I have plans for rainy days!" she reassured us.), their restaurant recommendations were excellent, and they couldn't have been nicer. Chiara even offered to make me a special tea when I had a bad cough. When we left, Elisa drove us to the train station because it was rainy and was concerned we'd have trouble with our tickets.

The room met our needs, the location was perfect, and the courtyard is absolutely beautiful!!

My husband and I have just returned from Italy, where the highlight was spending 6 nights at A Durmi in Levanto. We had initially planned to stay in Monterosso, but after developing immense fatigue with crowded tourist towns, changed our plans to stay in Levanto instead. We are so happy we did! Although easily accessible by train to the Cinque Terre and the towns further north in the Italian Riviera, Levanto is a "real" town where the locals do not appear to be outnumbered by tourists.

As all other reviewers have said, A Durmi is a great place to stay in Levanto. It is managed by sisters Elisa and Chiara, who place huge emphasis on customer service and helping their guests to have an enjoyable stay. They spend all the time you need in orienting you to the guesthouse, Levanto, and the Cinque Terre, and supply you with maps, hiking advice and directions, suggestions for the day's activities depending on the weather, and even dinner reservations.

A Durmi is only a 5 minute walk from the train station, but Elisa or Chiara will come to pick you up at the train station if you have heavy bags. The guesthouse is spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds and large well-equipped bathrooms. The shared garden patio and terrace areas are spacious and comfortable, and are perfect spots for having a glass of wine and relaxing in the afternoon or evening. The optional breakfast is delicious and well worth the cost, but there is also a grocery store with an excellent deli, a pastry shop, and a couple of bars within a minute or two walking distance where you can have your morning cappuccino and fresh focaccia bread or pastries.

Levanto itself has a lot of attractions. It has frequent train connections to all the Cinque Terre towns (once or twice an hour usually), and is only 4 minutes away from Monterosso by train. It is also connected to the Cinque Terre by boat, and you can hike to Monterosso via a scenic (and somewhat challenging) trail in about 2 1/2 - 3 hours. The beach at Levanto is beautiful with excellent swimming (or surfing in the right conditions), and there is kayak rental from the beach during the summer months. An unexpected bonus was a 2 km paved path through a tunnel to Bonassola (next town to the north) which is restricted to walking or bikes (which can be rented in Levanto). The tunnel path extends an additional 3 km to the north of Bonassola to the community of Framura. This ride is completely flat and largely through tunnel (lighted on the longer stretches) so is great to do on a rainy day or with kids. There are a number of good restaurants in Levanto; we greatly enjoyed the fresh fish of the day, fresh anchovies with lemon, local Cinque Terre white wine, and local limoncino.

If you have plans to go to the Cinque Terre or Liguria region of Italy, I cannot recommend A Durmi strongly enough.

Room Tip: Request an apartment with a kitchen if you'd like to cook your own meals.

We stayed at A Durmi for eight memorable days at the beginning of September, 2013 and couldn't have been happier with our choice. A friendly, family run guesthouse, no request was too much trouble for charming, knowledgeable managers Chiara and Elisa, who were always willing to provide a cup of coffee, or sit with us to plan a day's activities and give advice about places to visit and eat. By boat or by train, Levanto is the perfect base for visiting the Cinque Terre villages and the many interesting towns on the Italian Riviera. Our room at the end of the garden was spacious, clean and quiet, a comfortable and relaxing home away from home to return to each day. We also enjoyed the large, sunlit patio where we were able to meet and chat with other guests.
