I thought I would just check this out but ended up staying most of the day . it is very small and sheltered by the rock face a sun lounger and umbrella was 14 euro for all day or you could just put your own things on another part of the beach .
It had a small restaurant for icecreams, drinks and snacks and the toilet and shower were clean .
I arrived at 8.30am only a few others were there at this time the sea was very clear and warm but by lunch time the seaweed had been churned up from out at sea and some litter was also being washed up so i would suggest getting there early and staying till lunch. it never got too busy and there were lots of spare sunloungers and room enough to move the loungers to get the sum more or in my case avoid the sun . I visited by myself but felt very safe being alone and I felt my bags were also safe to leave while I was in the sea or restaurant

Can get windy, though, and the sea is never fully calm here. Not for families. Maybe a bit expensive, but you can always ask for a deal.

My wife and I recently stayed in Sant'Angelo and were thrilled to take the steps down to the heralded Cava Grado beach to relax in the sun and dip in the ocean. Just a few minutes walk from Sant'Angelo, the view at the base of Cava Grado is stunning, and there is a small restaurant serving drinks and snacks. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for rental (and the best part of this tiny beach is reserved for patrons who are paying), and there is a free space to the left of a rope fence for other patrons. If the sea is calm, Cava Grado makes for a wonderful nook to while away hours reading, swimming, or tanning, but if there is much of a breeze (and Ischia IS an island so for most of each day there IS a breeze), then the ocean waves come so high that there is only room for 10-15 people total on the entire beach (and over half of those people will be individuals who pay for a chair/umbrella). In conclusion, if you want to enjoy the view from Cava Grado, make sure the sea is calm; otherwise, there won't be enough beach space to enjoy anything.
