We stayed for one week half board at the Miramare Hotel at the end of July. We had a lovely relaxing week. The Miramare hotel was lovely, spotlessly clean, friendly and helpful staff and the food was fantastic! I would recommend booking half board (well worth it) and a sea view room is a must. We also really enjoyed the use of the spa pools at the sister hotel Apollon and the pretty short walk to the pools! It was our first visit and I am sure it won't be our last.

Great location and stunning views with fab outdoor terrace area. Rooms fairly basic but fine. Their Terme (hot pools) close by are fantastic, nice staff but as it’s not a 5 star (or charging like one), you are largely left to your own devices to enjoy the location, the facilities and the local area, all of which are worth going for. Great brekky. Would recommend for a relaxing seaside holiday for those who enjoy Italian style old world charme, as opposed to expecting fluffy towels and waiters in white uniforms to be on hand to lay the towels down on your lounger and deliver your cocktail to you at the pool, not that sort of place.

Hotel is perfectly positioned in Sant’Angelo, which is a small fishing village in Ischia, cute little town, very small but big enough for some nice restaurants, lovely central cafes, small number of shops that pack a punch with some good luxury Italian brands (total bonus!) as well as small shops selling beach wear and the usual beach toys etc.

The village has no cars so the taxi drops off and a small electric buggy can then take you from the taxi area to the hotel - €3 p/p + €2.50 for each suitcase - an easy walk if only light bags as downhill, the village is tiny & everybody knows the hotel as it’s the biggest one there (go down to where the boats are all moored and look left and you will see the steps to the hotel) but if big bags easier to take the electric buggy as they will deliver you and your bags directly to reception. Can hire boats in the harbour and a taxi boat goes to the local beaches on a regular basis and is inexpensive (I think 3 or 4 euros p/p).

The Hotel steps/ramp leads you directly to the town, it enjoys prime position set into the hillside directly over the water - very private as area is inaccessible by public. It’s a classic italian spacious old ‘Albergo’, old italian tiles on the floors, lovely spacious covered terrace, bar, pool table and lots of large communal areas to relax in. Light on the ‘luxury, aspect, rooms are functional, towels are thin, decor feels original from maybe 80s/90s and some of the room balconies we could see were only separated from each other by a thin metal bar so would have felt like sitting directly next to your neighbour outside (not surprisingly they didn’t seem used a lot) but the location and the calm makes these details insignificant. Air con was good, pillow menu on offer and calm, relaxed vibe that promotes rest and relaxation. Their Terme/Beach area has a pizza/restaurant and the food there is good, and the pizzas great. Couple of other little cafes at the Terme beach area if you feel like variation when over that side of the hotel.

Breakfast is one of the best we have had on our European holiday, full buffet plus cooked a la carte on offer all complimentary including fresh juices and the waitstaff were lovely.

The Terme pools are simply fantastic - be aware however that you have to walk along the cliff path to get to them (about 5/10 minutes uphill) and then down a lot of steps to the beach/Terme area and then back up again more steps to the area with the large Terme pools so not for those physically challenged but they are incredibly relaxing and clearly the health and revitalisation aspect is taken very seriously. There is a complimentary on demand buggy to get to the Terme/beach area (didn’t materialise when requested so we just walked all the time, but did see other guests using).

Downside:
No pool directly in the hotel itself unless you book a room in one of their villas (which I think is called by another hotel name) but the villas are separate from main bldg (along the cliff path by the Terme pools) and they don’t seem to have any views to speak of as located behind a building. There is a little platform in the main hotel that is down some stairs giving direct sea access from the hotel itself but the ladder/stairs to the sea are slippery so again challenging for anybody with physical issues + small area - great for an early morning or evening swim however - water is crystal clear.

For a smallish hotel it’s slightly impersonal which some people may enjoy - i.e. on checkout the gentleman didn’t even enquire if we had enjoyed our stay (yes!) and at one stage despite us wearing our wristbands with the hotel name on them (need to wear to get into the Terme) when in the hotel a staff member just abruptly approached, demanded our room number and then she stalked off without another word - we were bemused as to why the sudden interrogation but the rest of the waitstaff and housekeeping are lovely - can be a tad disorganised at times - seems to be a lack of clear management of the restaurant at the beach/Terme but as always in Italy, don’t stress and things normally get resolved with good humour.

Overall, nice hotel, lovely waitstaff, great location, don’t expect 5 star but it’s a solid 4. The combination of the hotel, the Terme pools and the little village creates a lovely vibe - we really enjoyed our stay.

Dear Customer,

with great joy we can say that you have perfectly understood the philosophy of the Miramare Sea Resort: a natural charm of old times that sublimates a luxury not an end in itself. We want to distinguish ourselves from those who understand hospitality as mere impeccability in the services offered.

Before any formality, the tranquility and innate welcome of all our staff makes a dinner at the Miramare pleasant and romantic.
As you note, the whole resort is designed to enjoy the calmness of a small fishing village: rest from the external frenzy begins with the priceless position of the hotel, immersed in the blue of the Mediterranean, continuing with the pools of the Thermal park to regenerate body and mind, the terraces and common areas to enjoy aperitifs carefully prepared by our legendary barmen.

With the typical and continental breakfast we want to satisfy a careful clientele that has to start the day in the best way: what is better than a varied buffet with thirty different types of honey and the additional proposal of dishes?

Obviously the Ischian landscape includes many climbs and descents, but fortunately there are electric caddies when you feel tired.
We are currently very proud to be a "solid 4-star", with an authentic personality, and if we become a 5-star we will surely keep it; certain to see you again soon, we thank you for all the compliments and we hope to welcome you again soon.

Kind regards
Miramare Sea Resort

Our family of 5 had a fabulous few days staying at Miremare in July. The hotel position is superb. We loved waking to the glorious views and starting the day with a swim off the rock platform into the clear blue Mediterranean. Breakfast was excellent. We chose to eat dinner at various restaurants in Sant Angelo and surrounds. The Pool/Beach club is only a 5min walk and a great addition. Without fail, we began the evenings with Aperitivo (one of Italy's finest additions!) on the superb Terrace. Genarro and Michele make their cocktails with perfection, thank you for your attentiveness. Infact, all of the staff were so friendly and helpful without needing to speak much english. We also enjoyed the pool table and after dinner drinks one evening. Miremare is old world glamour. It's not the latest, urban shiny hotel, instead it oozes charm. We are in our 50s and our children in their 20s and we had a really wonderful holiday on Ischia together. Thank you Miremare, it was perfect!

Dear Customer,

we thank you for leaving this fantastic review about your stay at the Miramare Sea resort: surely one of the most complete experiences to fully enjoy the beauty of the island is to dive into its clear waters.
We are very happy that the Thermal Park has won your heart, as did the breakfast with a view, which we know is a fundamental part of the offer. Every sweet or savory dish is carefully prepared daily, and in the same way the cocktails of Gennaro and Michele respond to the need to convey our particular vision of luxury: a total peace of the senses wrapped in the typical warmth of the South.

It was a great pleasure for us to have you at the Miramare: we hope to see you soon to enjoy more panoramic aperitifs on the terrace, lulled by the sound of the waves.

Best Regards.

We fell in love with this hotel last year and could not wait to return this year, however as much as we enjoyed our second visit here are some helpful points to consider :

Last year we had a superb room with terrace and sea view, this year we opted for the same type of room. Talking to some guests there are some rooms that are not that great so if a good room is required check carefully when you book, the sea view is to die for, the sun is mainly on the sea view room balcony / terrace from 7am - 3pm.

House keeping in my opinion is superb, the chamber maids are both invisable and very attentive, our room was visited at least twice every day,

The food this year was a real disappointment, so good last year but this year quite shocking for a 4 star hotel - the difference in quality was noticeable from the very first meal, poorly seasoned, some meals not hot, the buffet starter course exactly the same every day with very small changes . Most evenings the restaurant was at least half empty, last year hardly a table to be had. THE OWNER OF THE HOTEL SHOULD TAKE NOTE.

The servers in the restaurant do their very best, once again changes from last year clearly noticable, uncoordinated service, there was no real Restaurant Manager to ensure patron satisfaction, some of the servers were clearly not happy THE OWNER OF THE HOTEL SHOULD TAKE NOTE !!

The communal lounge by the only bar in the hotel has no air conditioning and the ceiling fans were not working both last year and this year, I understand that they have not worked for 3 years why ? THE OWNER OF THE HOTEL SHOULD TAKE NOTE !!

Whilst our bedroom was superb with a smart flat screen TV, the TV subscription package to the hotel offered just one English language channel out of in excess of 150 channels which in fact is a dedicated CNN financial stock market channel WHY !!

The reception staff are all smiling friendly people some I fear are taking the brunt of several complaining guests on a daily basis.

The hotel is quite a distance on foot to the pool and sunbathing area of the hotel which is located by the hotel's Resort and Spa , there is a free electric buggy service too and from.

The hotel has a very small sun bathing deck /platform by the sea with 8 sun beds, access to the sea with its vicious under water rocks is via a very slippery metal stairway. The platform is reached via some 45 steps.

The location of the hotel is unbeatable just a few metres to the local shops and restaurants.

San Angelo is very exclusive and also very expensive. To enter and exit the resort is either by foot or by electric trolly taxi service the price of which is 3 Euro per person per trip, these electric trollies make a fortune each trip is no more than a 3 minute ride to the gated entrance to the resort.

We will no doubt return again soon and hopefully see some improvement but we will definately only book bed and breakfast,

If you go then enjoy, the views above are my own personal and honest thoughts and hopefully will be viewed with an open mind.

Room tip: room first floor with balcony and sea view

Dear Customer,

we are very honored that for the second year in a row you have chosen us for your vacations.

The rooms of the Miramare over the years are continuously renewed and perfected. There are some design suites in which the luxury of simple forms is predominant, other rooms have a modern but more romantic personality, others conquer lovers of large spaces and light colours.

The difference between the various locations where you can stay has always been a strong point of the Miramare, which this year is also doing important work to improve and expand the facilities; the nature of the place, as you have noticed during the stay, imposes a certain slowness in the works since both the building materials and the staff move on the electric caddies.

As for the Il Mare Restaurant, our philosophy is that of an intriguing and appetizing cuisine but that always remains light and genuine, without ever altering the flavour of the local products.
The appetizers that make up the buffet are the most popular dishes that satisfy a large number of customers: vegetables cooked in many versions, mozzarella, fish, simple and fresh wholesome, various types of artisan bread and breadsticks, all to be dressed with our local oil.

We always focus on the undisputed quality of the raw material, which must always be fresh and in season, although this can sometimes be at the expense of a greater variety of proposals.

The beach is certainly gathered in a limited space; the volcanic nature of the island gives us crystal clear water and memorable landscapes, sometimes providing for a different kind of use, but this is part of the beauty of Sant’Angelo.

Definitely a very exclusive corner of the island, as you know.
Given its location and context, which requires a particular transport organization, we think that prices are generally very honest. Let's think about an aperitif consumed in a bar with a view of Capri, or a typical Amalfi boutique ...

We thank you for being at Miramare and sharing your thoughts with us.
We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Kind Regards
Miramare Sea Resort
