If you are in Ischia you definitely should visit. We stayed in Ischia Ponte and the Castello is the dominant feature of the town and very impressive and picturesque location.

The €10 entrance fee seems very reasonable for the amount there is to see. There are lots of historic buildings inside, chapels and towers and even a prison. There is a well written guide and sign posted walking tour to go around at your leisure. As well as the lovely buildings the views of Ischia and mainland Italy are fabulous. The food wasn't amazing at the restaurant at the top but wasn't as excessively priced as I has expected.

Probably obvious but most of the attraction isn't really suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs as there are a lot of steps.

A great few hours/half day out.

Well laid out with many, many interesting features. The internal lift (obviously not an original feature) was a hidden bonus to kick the tour off. Varying vista's of Ischia Porto and outlying islands in the Bay of Naples give the place an impregnability that still endures even today. Impressive!

I only visited Castello Aragonese because I'd accidentally walked there and it seemed a waste not to, but I fell in love with the place. The most spectacular feature was the view - make sure you go on a clear day. There were also churches and terraces and cloisters to poke around, though unfortunately you can't go into the fortress itself. It's 10 Euros to get in, for which you also get a brief explanatory leaflet and map. It's well-signposted and maintained, and there seemed to be a few cafes dotted around the place. It's maybe a 30-45 minute walk from Ischia, though I think the number 7 bus also takes you there. There are also places to sit around the bridge that leads to the Castello if you fancy basking in the sunshine before or after your visit.

The ten euro entrance fee was well worth it. You can access across the walkway and then you can either walk up the stairs or get the lift. The castle has been beautifully preserved with many verandahs, walkways and terraces. There is a lovely cafe and a restaurant as well as stunning views back across the bay to Ischia town.

if you go to Ischia you have to visit it. the Aragon castle is actually a small town inside the wall of the castle, with monasteries, churches, prisons and more, The view of the Napoli gulf and its islands from the gardens and the little roads inside the castle is spectacular. There is also a cozy bar in a magical set up of ancient walls and the fantastic scents of the flowers that surrounding the place.
