We ate here twice during our holiday on Ischia and were very impressed with all aspects of our meal.
The restaurant is set on a terrace quite high up in the castle and has an outdoor as well as an indoor area. On both occasions we ate outside and were rewarded with the most spectacular views out over Ischia Ponte and Porto and on to the mainland. We didn't see the indoor area but other guests said that it was very comfortable.
All of the staff were very knowledgeable about the menu and wine but also about the castle. Roberto the Sommelier advised us to try a wine that was produced from grapes grown elsewhere in the castle and it was excellent. The restaurant management obviously sets a high standard of service and this was evident throughout our visits - all staff were very attentive and friendly.
We chose the 'Cala, Cala' set menu which consisted of some truly lovely dishes. The hot and cold vegetable starter was extremely tasty and both the Lemon Risotto and Ravioli combined a variety of ingredients to produce really memorable and original flavours. This continued with the deserts that arrived in generous portions. As with the wine, many of the ingredients used in the menu were grown in the castle grounds. Some of the bread was baked in the kitchen but the restaurant also used a local bakery - it was all excellent.
We would recommend this restaurant with no hesitation.
