We had a superior double room 165
The room was a nice size, the bed had seen better days the mattress wasn’t great.

The aircon was very good, the bathroom was interesting the shower curtain was way too long an the water didn’t drain away so to stop the bathroom flooding you would need to turn. The water off so it could drain.
Breakfast was very basic, cereal, bread, pastries, hard boiled eggs, one type of salami and one type of sliced cheese, there was a selection of fruit apples/banana still/sparkling water squash juice like you used to get back in the 80’s if you ever played sports for a club. But also beer if you wanted it for breakfast,

The pool I think is filled with spring salt water and the pools are emptied and clean on a Monday.

You have to wear a hat in the pool or you get told off, if you don’t have one of your own you can get one from reception. They will charge you €3 each which we found out when we left and it was added to the room.
The staff don’t speak much English if any, but they were pleasant enough.

The location is amazing for this hotel as I have been to ischia a few times before.
It’s close to the beach and shops there is a gelato shop which also does cake and coffee a couple minutes walk away the ice cream there was amazing I think it was called bouno cafe.

A short walk up the hill you will find the best restaurant by far on the island called ristorante pizzeria il giardino.

The pizza is great but the side dishes and meat are amazing and I mean amazing, I’ve been to lots of restaurants all over the world and this one was very well priced and the flavour of the food was wow! Trust me you will not be disappointed
You could get a taxi up the hill but it’s not that bad of a walk maybe 10 minutes up the hill.
We booked a table for 8:30pm most nights and it was quiet when we arrived and then busy when we would leave

Anyway back to the hotel for the price you pay you can’t complain really, a few of the sun loungers have seen better days along with the cushions which they need more of.
But it’s a third of the price of other hotels near by.

We left ischia to go to minori we are here now.
We got the ferry at 9:35am to naples you can get the tickets just up the road by the roundabout in the newsagents €20 each plus €2.10 per suitcase this was on the hydrofoil which only takes 1 hour to Naples

Then a train from central to Salerno at 11:45am which was €23 in total first class for both of us and the suitcases only takes 30 minutes or so
Then the boat from Salerno to minori with travelmar which was €17 in total including our suitcases for both of us.

I would stay at this hotel again

We found the staff to be rude and unhelpful. We booked a Superior room but were given a small standard double with a tiny balcony which overlooked other rooms and had no mini bar as advertised. I queried it but was told it was a Superior, I disagreed so was moved to a larger room with access to a roof terrace and a mini bar. This room also wasn't what I was expecting it resembled no likeness to their advertised Superior rooms. The shower hardly worked there was no pressure in it and it flooded the bathroom due to a bad design with the shower curtain which fell down all the time. The door on the wardrobe was hanging off and if you need to use a hair dryer I would take your own as the wall attached one has no power. The bedding is old and tired and had stains on and the towels look ready for the bin.

The only hot day during our 3 days visit the staff decided to drain the pool, we went to the smaller pool but the staff who attended to the pool and gardens shouted at us in Italian as we didn't have a swimming cap on. There were no signs to explain this and when we checked in no one told us, in fact when we checked in the staff barely spoke to us and didn't tell us any rules of the hotel.

Breakfast is 07.30 - 10 am but arrive there before 08.30 otherwise everything will be gone. We arrived at 09.20 one morning and the only thing to eat was stale croissants, some eggs and some bread, they do not appear to replenish anything.

There is a large dog which is always in the reception area and garden with various members of the family who run the hotel. This dog is not friendly it barks and growls at guests and snapped at me when I walked past it to the swimming pool.

The hotel has great potential with a bit of updating and a friendlier service as the location is good and the pools are nice (when filled). New towels and bedding wouldn't cost the earth and would make such a difference as would a decent hairdryer. It is defo no frills and it served its purpose for us as we were out and about a lot, it's not a relaxing hotel though and there are some musty smells in areas. It had a feeling of a residential home rather than a hotel.

Hotel Pineta is from another age but is clean and well kept making it charming. Location is good, food is good, room is comfortable. Easy walk to Castello Aragonesse which is stunning and town centre and port which is lovely. The price is fantastic as well.

We absolutely loved this place! Great location in between the port and the beautiful Aragonese Castle. Brilliant value for money, very attentive staff, good pool, clean rooms and the food at the restaurant was top quality! We’ll definitely come back.
