My boyfriend and I have nothing but positive things to say about Alberto and Villa Sirena. This was by far our favourite stop on our Italian vacation.
Alberto greeted us at the ferry terminal and even took us to the scooter rental place before heading to the hotel. We were greeted with delicious cake, cappuccino and a tour of the lovely hotel. The view from the rooftop deck is gorgeous and we definitely enjoyed the on premise thermal spa!
As mentioned, the food was delicious and plentiful. You will not go hungry here! The suggestions for places to visit were spot on and we too felt at home in the family like atmosphere.
We left early in the morning and Alberto had packed us a lunch for our train ride to Rome. So sweet!
Stay here and rent a scooter if you are comfortable riding them. It was the best way to visit the island.

Thanks Alberto!

This family-run hotel (about 10 mins from the port by bus or taxi) is comfortable, clean, with delicious home-cooked proper Italian food, and best of all has attentive and helpful staff - thank you Alberto, Arnaldo, Donatella, the marvellous chef and the waiters and other staff for making us so welcome and for putting so much effort into planning our outings and ferrying us around. An example of their attentiveness and kindness was a surprise birthday present as we were leaving.

The hotel has warm thermal pools and a sun terrace.

We can do nothing but echo the sentiments below. I visited with my husband for three nights in September and we have never experienced the level of service we received from Alberto and his team anywhere else in the world. The hotel is beautiful, the food was fantastic (and endless!) and the facilities in the thermal suite were excellent. But again the service tops it all. Alberto collected us from the ferry, dropped us to the villages when we wished, arranged a boat tour of the island for us which he dropped us to and collected us from and then dropped us back and then organised our ferry back to the mainland. On arrival he gave us coffee and cake and sat with us for about 30 mins to talk through what we should see and do on the island. He just couldn't have done anymore for us. Our only regret was that we weren't staying longer and we'd hope to make up for this in the future. One last thing, if you do make it to stay with Alberto, ask about the boat trip around the island. It was a fantastic day out and really good value including a home cooked meal with wine on board.

Anyone thinking of holidaying in or around the Amalfi area would do well to give consideration to this island and particularly this hotel.

We originally booked our flights with BMI Baby and emails to Alberto confirmed we would be able stay on the dates we had chosen.
When BMI was bought by British Airways and our flight was cancelled, the only flights we could get were on different dates, but this was no problem to Donatella, (Alberto's wife), and the new dates were accepted with pleasure.
Then a plane went off the runway whilst we were on our way to the airport, and our flight was delayed.
On our arrival at Naples we were met by our taxi driver who made a phone call to Donatella and handed me the phone.
Due to our late arrival we had missed the last ferry to Ischia so, ( if I okayed it ), she had arranged an overnight stay in a reasonably priced hotel, which was within five minutes walking distance of the ferry, so we would not need another taxi in the morning.
Alberto met us off the ferry and took us to the hotel and at last - thanks to Alberto and Donatella -  our holiday began.

The whole staff, all long time friends or relatives  of the family  could not do enough to make our holiday fantastic.
We were helped each day to decide what we wanted to do and then we would be ferried by car or mini bus to wherever we wanted to go.
The breakfast was to be taken whenever we liked and during it we would be asked what we would like to eat for our lunch or evening meal.
Not that it mattered as we were always asked to try the other dishes on the menu, as was everyone.
The thermal pool, hot and cold pools and steam room are free and open 24/7.
The other guests were nearly all Italian, from Milan to Sicily, and very friendly, with many on repeat bookings ,going back up to 15 years, so this indicates how good this place is.
The waiters, Pietro and especially Paulo, would try their best to speak to us in English, explaining what each dish was, and genuinely interested in how we had spent each day.
Alberto would walk round the restaurant having pleasant conversations with everyone, and trying to tempt them to try different dishes.
The hotel was started by his grandfather and Alberto was born and raised actually in the hotel, so it is in his DNA.

As to facilities in the hotel; there is a large pool which is constantly topped up with thermally heated water at 38 degrees, (this is good for the skin and joints).
There is a room with, knee deep, constant flowing, hot water (45 degrees) and you walk along on pebbles, then along the other side is constantly flowing cold water, and you walk down this side on pebbles. Apparently 6 circuits is very beneficial for the circulation in legs and feet.
Finally the steam room for sweating out the aches and pains of the day.
We asked about the hot mud and the following day were taken to the nearby treatment centre and had hot mud applications and massages – heavenly!
The terrace on the roof has sun loungers, a jacuzzi and spectacular views.

The beach recommended by Alberto, San Montana, is very beautiful and sheltered with a sandy floor. You can walk out approx 20 meteres and be constantly only waist or chest deep, then walk along or swim, paralel to the beach, in absolute safety. The hotel has concessionary rates for sunbeds and umbrellas. The hotel has regular sheduled runs to and from the beach.

The island is very beautiful and there is a castle and quaint, fishing ports worth a visit. The hotel will help organise trips to anywhere you would like to go, by road or sea. Or the bus service is reliable and efficient if you wish to travel independantly.
Ishcia Port has some great designer shops, (eg. Burberry and Stella McCartney), as well as lovely coffee shops and bars.

I have only taken the time to review once before and that was because the hotel was so bad. Therefore as this hotel is so good it's only right to take the time to write. All the previous reviews are extremely accurate. The warmth and friendliness of all the staff along with their attention to detail shown to each and every guest is beyond belief and something I have never witnessed before, even in 5 star. The food was beautifully cooked and presented and the flavours of the freshest of ingredients awakened our taste buds. Accompanied by a variety of local wines it is a gastronomic delight. The spa is open to all for the duration of your stay at no extra cost. The mud treatment and massage with Monica is a truly amazing experience not to be missed. Hotel Villa Sirena is exceptionally clean and well maintained. It is run professionally yet homely by a very proud family and proud they should be. We loved our time here and will definitely return.

Staying in villa Sirena was definately a high light of our honeymoon. We stayed for 4 nights. We were hesitant at 1st of having half board... What if the food wasnt great, we'd be bored eating in the same place every night... But we trusted the reviews before us and it was a fantastic success!
Hotel Villa Sirena is not plush with fancy decore and suave frills; but clean, very comfortable and extremely welcoming. The food was fantastic and it taught us how to eat Italian style.
To discribe it I'd say it reminded me of going to visit your favourite country aunt when you were little. You'd be given a big hearty breakfast before you set out for the days adventures then get back in the evening to get cleaned up before being served yet another scrumptious meal.
Alberto and his family (this hotel has been in there family for 3 generations) were so hospital, always there to help out and so friendly without being intrusive. We were even given a beautiful bouquet of flowers for our honeymoon.
The thermal pool in the basement was fabulous. Also it was very good value for that part of Italy.
They should give a course in hospitality because it's the best we've had!

Although we travel frequently, we rarely review properties – however, Villa Sirena is such a fantastic hotel that we had to leave a review. The rooms are very pleasant and spotlessly clean but, as the other reviews have mentioned, what really makes this hotel special is the service and the food. Alberto, Rinaldo and the hotel staff really go far above and beyond the call of duty to make your stay special. From tips and details of things to see and do around the island, to taking us to the nearby villages, they cannot help you enough; and everything is done with great good humour and a smile. The service is absolutely exceptional. The food, especially in the evening and at lunch is excellent – home cooked food made with local ingredients (very local – often from Alberto’s garden). At breakfast you choose what you’d like to eat that evening from the day’s menu – however, helpings of the other choices on the menu always circulated from the kitchen while we ate, so we seemed to end up trying everything available anyway. My wife is a vegetarian and Alberto and the team would always suggest a range of dishes she could try also. Elsewhere, the hotel has a good roof terrace with views down to Lacco d’Ameno and the sea; it also features an excellent indoor hot pool (38ºC), steam room and hot/cold circular pool heated geothermally, which are lovely to try and very relaxing after a day walking on Ischia. As mentioned by other guests, you can best sum this hotel up by saying it’s more like staying with close family rather than as hotel guests. All in all, one of the very nicest hotels we’ve ever stayed in anywhere.
