The Tritone was a great place to relax and unwind, lots of places to sit and relax, quirky decor, spacious terraces, amazing views of the sea and Forio, different style seating, beautiful gardens, toilets, showers and changing booths by the pools, sun beds all in good working order, gentle music playing in the back ground, all in all a wonderful experience!
The pool,we preferred was located in the Park area and it was always possible to find a sun bed. It was not always possible to get a sun bed at the pool closest to Hotel. You had to wear a hat in the pool which was ok as every one else was wearing one and if you weren't then you were asked to put one on.You could buy one for 2 euros at the reception. The Spa was a great experience my only criticism would be was that some of the areas were a bit grotty! The sauna door caught on the tiles and needed adjusted, I was afraid to go in case I couldn't get out and roasted to death!
The beach was beautiful, red hot sand and very popular at weekends.I was surprised at the size of the beach bar it was very cozy. There was 4 rows of sun beds, the first 3 rows you had to pay for but the 4th row was free. This we discovered was because the sun didn't get there until mid day.
Lunch menu was limited, only open for 2 hours, expensive but the Tomato bruschetta was absolutely divine!
Our room over looked the car park, we enjoy the comings and going and scenery of the mountains was a joy. There was some noise but nothing that lasted ages, although there was an annoying humming sound coming from a generator at night. We had a small balcony enough for two chairs a table and a drying rack. The bed room was spacious, spotlessly clean, the maid did a fabulous job.The room included a fridge with 2 bottles of water, free safe and Wifi, flip flops, bathroom products and 2 beach towels were included. Nothing was to much trouble we asked for two more pillows and an extra sheet.
The breakfast was the same everyday but plenty of choice, you could sit on the terrace which was lovely.
You had to choose your evening meal at breakfast time which is a bit strange having to anticipate what you want in the evening. Only 4 choices on each course and if your fussy like me and don't like fish I sometimes did not have a course. The buffet course was excellent but you had to get there for 8pm because if they put out a few different food items and they went very quickly. The staff were efficient and polite.
It was to hot to go out and about but on the day we ventured on to the bus it was hell on earth. Its everyman for himself and we found ourselves jammed up against the windows, sweating like pigs.We did try to catch it back but after waiting for half an hour in 30 degrees decided to walk back which is possible if you are insane and don't mind traffic whizzing by you. We did find the back street to walk into Forio which was a much more pleasant experience, took about 20 mins. We did not repeat the bus experience.Taxis 12 euros to Forio obviously ripping off tourist.Great little train that takes you on a tour of Forio. We went at night, couldn't see a thing! Loud music was playing which was the nearest thing we got to a party atmosphere.
Basically we didn't do anything but sit round the pool, sleep, eat and drink but had a throughly relaxing time!
