“Unforgettable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2013

Scrumptious food, excellent wines surrounded by an unforgettable Meditarrean surrounding. The mix of perfumes of herbs, seasealt, and great food is inebriating. The dim lights make it also extremely romantic.

The owners, Vito and Rossana Verde are careful and attentive to their guests as they would be with some old friends. You will most certainly enjoy a unique experience fit for each and every palate.

For sure my favouirte places of all.

“Want a perfect evening? Look no further!”

Pietratorcia is an intimate, family -run restaurant surrounded by vineyards in the Cuotto area. Wine tasting here is a must, as all the products come straight from the adjacent land and provide a unique taste of southern Italian tradition. I would advice to get there in the afternoon and enjoy a tour of the vineyards before starting the drinking. The upper vineyards provide stunning views of both the mountains and the sea, and a relaxing paradise for those who need a break from the more crowded beaches and town centers. After tasting the wine, the bread and the cheeses, you will most likely decide to stay for dinner. Don't be surprised if your friends or partner keep silent during the meal, as the food will leave both of you speechless! The quality is very high and each single dish is prepared with fresh ingredients coming from the family's land. There is also a great attention to details, but the latter does not come at the expenses of portion's sizes, which are very satisfactory. Best dish: the rabbit. The animals come straight from a cave in the vineyards, where they are bred. The cooking is slow and makes the meet incredibly tender and delicious. The sauce in which the rabbit is cooked is then used as a condiment for freshly made tagliatelle: indescribably scrumptious! The fish is also very good and extremely fresh. Try the gamberoni al limone (king prawns) oven baked and laying on a fresh lemon tree leave which gives them a very distinctive and refreshing flavor. Lemon-based recipes are very popular as the isle is famous for its citrus trees. The lemon cake is a must, made with a jealously kept secret by the Chef, Mrs Rossana, which will represent the perfect conclusion to a perfect dinner. Last but not least, the quattro agrumi, a liquor made with mandarin, lemon, lime and orange will leave a fresh taste of the isle on your lips and get you ready for the best sleep you've ever had!
