We stayed in this spectacularly pretty hotel for 10 days in July. We are a family of four, the 'children' being in their early '20s. Tenuta Del Poggio Antico is 15 minutes up the hill from the coast, so it's very quiet, and although it doesn't do dinner, and only limited lunches, there are three very good restaurants within easy walking distance and the hotel will take you down to Sant Angelo or Forio any time for free. The larger suites have a kitchenette and barbecue, and the hotel is happy to have food delivered in the evenings, and will recommend and help with that, so there's no need to go out to dinner every night if you don't want to.The pool is not enormous, but it has jets you can turn on and swim against, and there's also a hot tub in a separate area and spa services - but we didn't have any of those, so I can't comment. You can have drinks by the pool on the terrace, or in the open sided dining room. The views are lovely, and the hotel faces west so watching the sun setting over the sea is an occupation in itself, and very beautiful. The Poggio Antico is set in gardens and has a vineyard, and no very close neighbours. On Friday and Saturday nights you can hear the distant music from the bars down on the coast up to maybe 12 or 1, but the rooms have double-glazed French doors and the air-conditioning is efficient, and we were never disturbed - it was nice, in fact. There were honeymooners there and families like ourselves, and though it would not be unsuitable for young children I'm not sure it's the best place for them. There were older children (8 upwards) and they seemed really happy too. It's a family run hotel, and all the staff are friendly, and the service always generous and organised, but if it's luxury and chocolates on the pillow you're after it's not the place for you. Poggio Antico is an old-fashioned, chic and charming hotel, and I highly recommend it.

Room tip: The double upstairs have lovely views but the big suites downstairs have more privacy.

The four upper rooms offer a stunning view over a lush green area and the sea. The terrace offers sitting and relaxation chairs. Feel the wind. Enjoy a book.
One note: there are always sounds on the terrace, be it barking dogs, chickens, bushwhackers, scooters, planes or neighbours. However it rarely got overwhelming. And at the pool (and probably lower situated rooms) all sounds fade away due to the natural blockage by walls and vegetation.

The high quality boxspring (180lx160b), window shutters and a quiet air-conditioning ensures a good sleep. Though neighbouring contact sounds are heard loudly due to the wooden floors, but guests know this and tend to prevent making noise.

The television is not a smart tv, but has SKY. Though it's possible to connect a Chromecast to stream media via mobile devices. WIFI is fast enough.

The water pressure is irregular, the shower's glass door rubbers could be replaced/cleaned and the bathroom window could use blinds for privacy. Still, overall a good bathroom.

Breakfast is superb. The quietness, the view and of course the food and cappuccino.

Pool is generally very quiet with few people that respect the silent ambience.
Not suitable for real swimming, but allows for a cool dip and sitting on the underwater bench.

Hottub is fantastic (water replaced daily). Here are also beds with cushions.

The staff is very friendly, helpful and most speak reasonable English.

A shuttle service arranges free pickup from the port of Forio (but not the other ports) and also brings guests back and forth to Forio center.

For maximum flexibility for couples it's recommended to rent a scooter if one has the necessary experience (because it can get quite dangerous). 25 Euros a day.

Three restaurants within 5 min. walk radius. All offering stunning sunset views.

After holidaying on cruise ships in recent years it was a very pleasant change to experience such great personal attention, the staff and owner family were exceptional in their attentiveness and their nothing is too much trouble attitude. The accommodation, service, location and great views of the sea and sunsets from our first floor balconies were all just part of a wonderful stay. Three great restaurants (BellaVista, Montecorvo and La Pettina) all within a short walk are a must to visit and an on demand free hotel shuttle service will get you to many of the islands great places to visit. Great hotel and island.

I stayed at Tenuta del Poggio Antico whilst visiting Naples, Ischia and Amalfi with my sister. This hotel and setting are absolutely beautiful, breakfast is great (especially the cakes). Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who went above and beyond to make our stay perfect in every way. Even the 2days of bad weather, which put paid to our planned trip to Amalfi, didn't spoil our holiday. Francesco helped make sure what could have been a stressful situation was dealt with in the calmest of ways. We ended up spending an extra night in Ischia and were not disappointed. I can't recommend this place enough and will definitely be returning in the future.

Room tip: Amazing views, swimming pool and jacuzzi.
