“Once again, failed to disappoint”
Reviewed June 2, 2011

This is our second visit to Ischia, and after the last time we visited in 2009, we just had to go back and visit the Colella's. The food at la casereccia seems to be just as amazing as we remembered. The family as always are so hospitable and we ate like kings. They've also made some changes to the restaurant since our last visit and the yellow on the walls just gives the place a divine warm atmosphere. All we can say is Mama Tina, your food is fantastic, and if you haven't tried it yet you don't know what you're missing.

“Simply the best pizza I have ever had!”
Reviewed May 26, 2011

This restaurant is incredible. Everything we had was divine, from the pasta to the prawns, the caprese to the superb chocolate souffle. It is reasonably priced, full of locals which is reassuring, beautifully lit and the service is excellent.
Lorenzo's pizza is the best I have ever had, Naples included - thank you so much!

“The highlight of our trip to Ischia, amazing food at a resonable price!”
Reviewed November 1, 2010

Prior to our visit to Ischia in October, my husband and I checked out Tripadvisor to see what restaurants were recommended. Based on the reviews for La Casereccia we decided to go sample the food. We definitely were not disappointed. After a long walk up Via Baiola in the rain we eventually arrived at La Casereccia. Despite arriving an hour early, we were warmly greeted by Giuseppe who let us sit and drink whilst waiting on the kitchen to open. He spent a lot of time conversing with us and making us feel so much at home. As soon as Mama Tina arrived in the kitchen she started cooking our food for us and I have to say it was absolutely amazing (the Bruschetta, Parmigiana di Melanzane, seafood & shellfish pasta) and Lorenzo's pizza was the best I've ever tasted. Can also recommend the local Tommasone red wine, was fab. Our visit was so enjoyable that we returned on our last night in Ischia. If you are visiting the island, it is a MUST that you check out this restaurant. A big thank you to all the Collela family for a very warm welcome and an amazing culinary experience at La Casereccia!

“DELICIOUS”
Reviewed September 29, 2010

This is the best of real home-cooked Italian food. Many of the dishes are surprisingly simple, but the result is delicious. We dined here twice during our stay with a spread of apertifs, appetizers, pastas, salads, and home made wine both times. Everything was delicious. The local coniglio (bunny) was especially a treat. The prices were more than reasonable compared the just-ok tourist area restaurants. Just don't be shy to track down the staff if there is a football game on!

“Once found, never forgotten”
Reviewed September 26, 2010

We had heard of this restaurant before leaving the UK and were determined to find it. Walking up from Chiaia we succumbed to the heat and gave up, what we now know to be about two thirds of the way there. Undaunted, we tried again just before we left Ischia walking up to Via Baiola via Monterone. Our efforts were superbly rewarded.

Arriving at the restaurant around lunch time we decided to get a feel for the place with just a coffee. We were warmly greeted by Papa Salvatore and his sons impressed by the efforts we had made to find La Casereccia. We decided to browse the menu in advance of our proposed evening visit and on doing so chose to lunch as well! We had bruschetta with white beans and insalata caprese, the quality superb, we booked a table for dinner that night. We felt like family, nothing was too much trouble. We eventually returned to our hotel to freshen up for the evening.
Since it was quite an uphill walk (2km) we treated ourselves to a taxi ride up there in the evening (€10) an experience in itself! Our chosen table was reserved as promised; the service was again excellent, we were introduced to Kelly, who talked us through the various dishes and made recommendations regarding house specialities.
We shared a starter of Mixed grilled vegetables including peppers, zucchini & eggplant followed by penne arrabiatte and the excellent Tagliolini al Limone (pasta with lemon zest and cream) washed down with half a litre of the excellent house red. The main courses were Pesce Spada alla Griglia - Grilled Swordfish steak served with lemon & herb dressing for me and Chicken Breast grilled in sage butter for my partner washed down with a second half litre of the excellent house red.
As for desserts, well what can you say? Oooh. Home made to perfection! Tiramisu the size of a house brick, light and fluffily delicious. Will had a large slice of Caramel Cheesecake, again home made and glorious on the tastebuds. Passing up on the generous offer of a limoncello from Salvatore for fear of bursting we settled our very reasonable bill and left the restaurant to stroll home.

As we headed into the street, Giuseppe came running after us shhouting for us to wait. Was there a problem with the bill, we thought? No. Papa was going to drive us home in the hotel minibus. A generous gesture. He dropped us near to our hotel (Villa Verde) and shook our hands warmly to say goodnight. The perfect end to a perfect evening.

Would we return to La Casereccia? Definitely. Would we recommend La Casereccia? Absolutely.
